phil_doco 10 Posted November 30, 2011 Hello there fellow forum users. I posted on here a few weeks ago asking for help with a few problems I was having with the game set-up. I found the feedback very helpful and now I am making my way through the campaign and am enjoying it very much. However, I have been having difficulty with one particular technique and that said technique is autorotation. You see I completed all the tutorials except the ones involving this particular actions, as I tried and tried over and over again and was getting nowhere. But now I have came up to a part in the campaign where this action is needed so I could really use some help and tips for the autorotation please. Also I do not believe I am the only person who struggles with this and if anyone does know how to do it could they please put up a youtube video (if it is not too much to ask). Thank you! hon0 10 Posted November 30, 2011 http://www.youtube.com/user/MD500Enthusiast Do you play with a joystick? In witch difficulty? The "classic" procedure is to turn your thorttle to idle and push yor collective down. keep your speed to 60-80 and when you "feel" it, start flaring and pull up your collective to kiss the ground. Mush harder to do than to say ;) Good courage ! http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=126739
jedra 11 Posted November 30, 2011 There's also a thread on this (although it got a bit sidetracked). Here's a post from a pilot in that thread... The post
samb 15 Posted November 30, 2011 I don't know about default FM, but with Nightstalkers modification it's very difficult to perform ar with engine cut off. With throttle to idle it's much easier. You might want to reduce speed to 0 (or very close to that) as skids have too much grip in TOH and You will roll over the heli. I glide at 80 knots speed with collective full down, then start to flare at about 55 feet trying to loose speed and don't sink too fast. If You had collective down You should have enough rotor rpm to make sort of soft landing by slowly pulling collective up. In my opinion the most difficult part are finding right attitude to begin flare, managing nose up level and then playing with cyclic to touch down. Just try free flight near airport and practice, practice, practice...
