What if someone robs your house and hurts no one and he needs money?<span id='postcolor'>

Speaking strictly from my limited US perspective...

He robs my house...he gets a shotgun shoved up his ass.....

He robs a bank he can get away....my money is insured by the government.

But I hope he gets caught and sent away on both accounts.

Oh yeah...hehehe...guess I'll chime in on two things.

One- saw on the news the bus driver was being interviewed. He was talking about the other times that he escaped death and then said non-chalantly...he's gonna keep driving another year and then retire. :|

I can decide if that is heroic, defiant, or stupid. Maybe a little of all.

Two- Since this degenerated into a gun control debate I'll throw my two cents in.

I don't think it should be illegal for people to have guns, but I don't think any jackass with a drivers license should be able to get one either. I'll go with Longinius that guns don't deter crime, and I'll even go so far as to say the opposite....may even lead to some increase. But on the other hand, the people that have these guns will committ crimes with whatever weapon that they have available....even a banana.

I certainly don't think guns make someone committ a crime. That person was fugged up to begin with and undoubtedly had run-ins with the law before hand. The presense of a gun would make little or no impact on whether this person was going to committ a crime.

I certainly don't think that if everyone had a gun it would cause the criminals to think twice about doing crime either. What the hell do they care? The cops have guns...that stop the criminals from taking them on? Not one bit. If everyone had a gun it would probably just make the criminals shoot faster....after all...you never know if that person will be trouble.

I think there should be a LENGTHY screening process, followed by checks, required safety devices and classes, proof of some place child-proof to put it.....and an IQ test.

I've been raised around guns sicne I was 6 when my grandfather taught me how to shoot. He instilled a healthy level of respect for guns and what they can do, and made no qualms about scarin' the hell out of me if I didn't take it seriously. He made sure I never took guns lightly.

If people had more respect for them, and we're a little more responsible, we would have hell of a lot less "accidents". But unfortunately people don't want to take "responsibility" anymore....but thats a whole different debate.

My two cents. Take it, leave it, or poop on it.

Without getting into the gun control debate:

I think that one should leave the handling of criminals to the police. That's why I am against armed guards in banks and so on. Better to have loss of property then having people killed.

Without getting into the gun control debate...

Crime is rising in Europe and dropping fast in the U.S. smile.gif

AvonLady, you should make a T-Shirt for these guys that says:

"Don't shoot me. I'm unarmed."

Yeah...according to whithouse.gov the number of serious crimes have decreased. On the other hand, the number of people under correctional supervision and the arrests for drug abuse has increased....
