To continue the pedantic nomenclature part of the thread: UK is a political entity consisting of GB + NI. British Isles is a geographical term refering to GB, Ireland (the whole Island) and all the other islands from Shetland to the Scillys. (But not the Channel Islands, I think).

I'm trying to stay neutral on the whole subject but I had to reply. Where the #### do you get off calling the Delta force a bunch of puffs? Good lord you sound like an idiot. Where do you all get this stuff? It's one of the most elite forces in the world. What are you? A desk jockey?

And how can you call the abrams crap? It's the most high tech and sophisticated tank in the world. Even the discovery channel ranked it in the top 5 machines of all time. Not to say the Discovery channel is a defining source but I'd take its word for it a #### of a lot more than some punks.

I'd like to add a little something to this forum war. How many of you actualy serve in your countries military? In my opinion all of those who haven't or don't should shut the #### up and stay out of it because they have no idea what they're talking about. I don't care if you're some prepubescent teen who hopes to join some day. So let's hear it.

im serving in the British army at the moment and having been on a few exercises with the yanks and servinng in Bosnia i have to say they are totaly crap.

they love us brits cus we know what were doing.

Grenades were fun though. The problem is that the Majority of the people on this forum haven't seen and can't understand what its like to be in combat (don't flame on me because A. it's true and B. I admit I haven't either) But like any good monday morning Quaterback ( I know U.S. term for my friends in Europe its American football slang) we can all look at the mistakes of others with all the info available and plenty of time to think about it. for instance the FF kills that were mentioned about the A-10 and Warrior IFV, sorry s**t happens, it a fact of war the only reason the FF were so well known in Desert Storm is because of how few were killed by the enemy. Everyone here has a bad complex of thinking that "This tank is so much better than that tank" and "my training is better than your training" sorry to say guys but many a battle has been lost to an opponent with crappy equipment and crappy supplies and crappy training. I point in fact to the American Revolution(thats what we call it, if You English call it by something else then I'm sorry I don't know what it is )

We (americans) had no business winning at all, but we did because of a multitude of things, guess what thats war. now sorry to rant and rave please continue the discussion

How can you Brits flame our American allies? Who said the British are soldier gods? I've you've been in the British army you'll know it has many weaknesses too. My unit does STA, in my first month with it I had to shell out Å400 just to get all the basic kit together! Our forces are too small, our gear is outdated and the best stuff we get is American. Christ, at Sandhurst they use the M-16 half the time because the L85A1's too heavy even though it's supposed to physically resemble a carbine.

The one bad word I've got for the word is this: sloppiness. America could be ahead of us if its forces bothered to attend to the details, may it be training or operational planning. I mean small details such as wearing sunglasses when dealing with local people on peacekeeping, stuff like that. It's details like this which end up causing a lot of grief.

WHAT THE #### IS WITH YOU GUYS!!!! I've given up on u all and am taking sides with us Brits! And why do you keep dwelling on the past yes yes I know the L81's (or SA-80's which they are now called)were S**T but they have been modified and they are amazing now, its the same with the Challenger series they were S**T but are improved and are better, you can't expect immediate

results with a weapon. The SA-80 was rushed because the SLR was getting old and was failing and they needed a replacement and so it was hurried along. So don't dis it! I'm sure the M-16 was S**T when it was first released!

P.S I do think the Abrams is a Challenger clone!

I think the US should be thankfull we have a such a great ally and the UK should be thankful that the US saved their ass in WWII, not to say the Brits didn't put up a #### of a good fight long enough to hold for the allied invasion.

Abrams...Not a copy of the Challenger, American Design... M1A3 is all American design... 90% Digital and about 10% analoge..Im a little risty.. but I believe reactive armor was a joint venture... We may have our slip-ups.. but I dont see England developing Nuclear Weapons, Reactors,, and things like EMP's or GPS/Laser guided Bombs dropped from stealth aircraft... our BASIC army training may bite ass but we are WELL equipt.... and personally... I would put an F-22 Up against 3 British aircraft anyday... being stealth and all, yah know... The one thing about Englan I hate the most... is the LACK OF COOKIES! I MEAN WHATS IT TAKE FOR A GOOD STACK OF OREOS AND MILK!!! COME ON! So lay off America Limes(sp?) and And the same to my fellow Americans...now Im going for a good snack of Cookies and milk

Iron Eagle; the Abrams uses many NATO-standard parts, also used on the Challanger and Leopard tanks. An F-22 vs. Eurofighter? AFAIK the Eurofighter has at least everything the F22 does, except for stealth.

The M16 has been around for almost as long as the AK47, long enough to refine the errors, the L85 hasn't been around that long so its naturally going to have glitches that haven't been fixed, although ideally they wouldnt be there to start, many would only happen in time.

Soon2B 2nd LT; delta force is indeed an elite unit, however when compared to others in performance records, in this case the SAS, it is not as elite as all their biased documentaries claim.

to say the M16a2 is a little better then the M16a1 is garbage. It is way better, my uncle has been using the M16a2 for many many years and hasn't had much problems with it(so says he) and he says it doesn't jam as much as people say, but like most guns, it will need cleaning and i will not say its the best because everyone knows its not the best but it is battle ready, proven and pretty decent(again, not the best though)
