zentaos 10 Posted November 17, 2011 (edited) I decided to go with wood because it's inexpensive, readily available, and almost everyone has the tools at hand to build with it. Without electronics, you could build this setup for around $40.00 almost half of the cost will be the nylon bearings which are how you keep the "soft" wood from creating slop in the controls. you could from here, gut a simple 4 axis joystick to use the electronics or go with a Leo Bodnar USB controller and add a twist throttle and all the buttons you can handle. plans/instructions for this build to be available on a 8.5X11 PDF in a few days if anyone is interested. here is the link to the PDF: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JQEXFNAF Edited November 17, 2011 by zentaos

zentaos 10 Posted November 17, 2011 I would love to see the finish product;)p.s. the collective handle should be longer I wanted this setup to be more compact to take up less space. the handle length can be increased by changing a few measurements. I was aiming more for "feel" than real world dimensions.
Peat 10 Posted November 17, 2011 You will make a huge efforts, but great idea of course. There exists a cool solution not at a very high price at all, have a look here: http://www.pro-flight-trainer.ch/en/

There exists a cool solution not at a very high price at all, have a look here: http://www.pro-flight-trainer.ch/en/ This actually looks good, the only thing that lacks is a proper rudder paddle, I wonder how much it cost, and if they can ship it to Hong Kong:p
zentaos 10 Posted November 17, 2011 "budget" guys...:) i have also been working on this setup:http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=2024982&postcount=46, but it will be quite costly to make, $500-$600 the wood setup in this post, I estimate based on my materials calculations, can be built for under $100. which would be a really good deal for full simulator controls. i will not be producing and selling this setup, but I will upload the PDF instructions so anyone can use them (and modify the design as necessary). ---------- Post added at 08:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:32 AM ---------- I wonder how much it cost, and if they can ship it to Hong Kong:p I'm pretty sure the ProFlight Trainer is around $1000.00 U.S.
4 IN 1 0 Posted November 17, 2011 If i have to choose I would pick the metal one instead:) Problem of all the DIY stuff for me is that I am living in an 700ft^s ish apartment at 31 floor of an apartment building, which means I don't have the tools nor the space to do all the DIY stuff at home, I could, if I have chance, use equipments from my workplace(afterall, it is an aircraft maintenance company), but just like any large corp. there is many rules in place to stop me from doing such things:j:
