Kep Kelagin 1 Posted May 31, 2002 Hiya, Just wanted to know for sure, before I spend me 299 Euro on a new modem-router. I got 2 computers, and wanna use them for setting up a dedicated server, and play with my other computer. Can this be done with a router-modem? Thx
Mister Frag 0 Posted May 31, 2002 Yes, it should work. However, you'll probably have to do some work on the NAT/PAT (Network Address Translation/Port Address Translation) configuration to make sure that incoming packets looking for the server are routed to the proper box. You would then use your external IP address to host games on your OFP server, and connect to the server's internal IP address from the second computer behind the router. Kep Kelagin 1 Posted May 31, 2002 Thx , so it is all a matter of opening the proper ports, and thats it? Thx again
Mister Frag 0 Posted June 1, 2002 Yes, it should be as simple as that. Exactly what modem/router are you getting?

Mister Frag 0 Posted June 1, 2002 My native tongue is German, so I can read about 90% of what is on that page. I was hoping that they had more information about the firewall that is built into the router, but the technical FAQ doesn't get into that. Oh well...
