ryan d ale 10 Posted September 3, 2011 Hi. I'm had Arma2 for a while and I want to start playing it again. One of my problems with it is the graphics. I have them all set on high because I'm fortuante enough to be able to do that but sometimes I just can't tell what objects are at all. For example, I was 40m from a kind of 'oil pump'/drill that swings into the ground. Combined with the noise and 'awful graphics' I thought it was an enemy APC. Another example, I can't Identify vehicles 200 metres away. They are just a blur (especially when moving). Is this normal or is there some kind of setting to help with this. For example, I do not understand the graphic setting '3d resolution'. Any help is appreciated.
HR4 Elite 10 Posted September 3, 2011 Don’t know if this will help but these are my settings: http://api.ning.com/files/Sgjg2ZxMofrSfn8Q0eFg5hgo8jTZ7UyNG2LuMnFHl2JlFIZDlmvNgS5RV43JP0e6EmUjtr8ep2cOfbs3dBLGyGLtFQsTISGy/setupwithdvdmod.jpg With things on high as you suggest there should not be a problem, try setting your 3D res to 100% or your monitors natural res, my monitor is a 1920x1080 res and I have it set at that with great results.. . Thank you for sharing that with me. I did set it to 100%/1:1 now and I can certainly say that things are at the very least mildly better. Just searching to see if I have correct/default/native aspect ratio then I should be having optimal experience I think :) Thank you.
[frl]myke 14 Posted September 4, 2011 It would be helpful to know the used Hardware. About 3D Resolution: your monitor has a native resolution, let's assume 1920x1080 (FullHD). You can force ArmA 2 to render in another Resolution and the down/upscale the finale frame to your monitors native resolution. That said, with the above assumed native Resolution a 3D Resolution setting of 200% would mean that each frame is rendered at 3840x2160 and then downscaled to 1920x1080. The effect and therefor purpose is a Fullscreen/Fullscene Antialiasing. This can be applied if you see that your GPU isn't at full load all the time and has some free resources you could spent into a higher 3D Resolution. Going below 100% will help if a GPU is permanently "overloaded" but it doesn't really look good IMHO.
polecat.uk 11 Posted September 4, 2011 I would try turning off post processing if you have that on high.
