Animal sounds at begining of SP mission.

I have a mission that starts with a short cutscene at the very begining of the mission. (After Briefing I am not refering to the Intro scene) While the camera scene runs at the begining of the mission I hear cows and sheep, which I have placed in the mission, but not anywhere near where this camera is positioned and running. Is there a way to preload or stop the animal sounds from playing at the begining of the mission? Thanks.

I assume it's a problem with cameras and 3D sounds. I've had problems with this in the past. Are the sounds trigger based or placed sound sources? You can always place triggers manually using createTrigger combined with setSoundEffect (note Example 3 if still problematic, haven't checked lately). If it's a sound source you can create these dynamically using createSoundSource.

I don't have any triggers associated with the animals so I am guessing the sounds are placed. I have placed some cow units and some sheep units in open areas on the map but none of them, expecially the sheep, are close by the camera position for an opening cutscene. It seems to play the sounds of each animal once as if it is loading the sounds. Thanks for your time and help.

I know that in general with the engine animal sounds will play like they are next to you if your viewing from a certain height / camera view or in a heli at certain heights to ground.

For example using something like ACE's Hunt IR .. if you fire it above and switch to the camera view with any animals around you will hear them clucking and moaning up close.

So I would say its probably engine than anything that you can overcome, or you spawn the animals in the mission only, instead of the intro as a work around?

Thank you, I may try spawning them with a trigger or just living with the few extra sounds at the begining. You describe exactly what is happening. I am also going to try running a music bed over the begining camera scene to see if that covers it up a bit and perhaps I can lower the starting position of the camera.

Yes I would say try your camera height and see it was stage it stops, sods law it will be the exact place you want the camera, apart from that Halo heigh above clouds!

Its slightly an immersion killer using ACE Hunt IR ... using a bit of stealth to check for patrols with that camera in a chute while a cow and sheep are bleating in your ear-hole :(

Wait, placed animals make sound now? When did that happen? :D Not something I do too often, but when used I've always also placed sounds manually. Ok, learned something today as well, nice :p Thx.
