.kju 3244 Posted August 5, 2011 The sound experience is one of the key aspects for the atmosphere. Next to the overall ambiance sounds and weapon firing sounds, the explosion sounds seem to be most vital to me. By this I mean: Grenade explosion Satchel explosion HE/HEAT explosion Bomb explosion Vehicle explosion Secondary explosion Mortar impacts Finally artillery impacts Unfortunately the sounds from BI have always been very weak for these. While OpticalSnare has provided us with WarFX an excellent visual presentation, the sound side of side of things is still lacking. From what I can tell, also available sound replacements are also not focusing much on these and there is no impressive replacement out there yet. This is why I am looking for sound designers to join me in this effort. I have done base work for the config side of things, yet both impressive sound files are yet missing. This is meant to be a cooperative effort, so I hope multiple sound designers can join forces and help us built the most impressive explosion sound FX pack! Thanks for your attention! Feedback, participation and sounds contribution are most welcome.
valnwt 11 Posted August 5, 2011 (edited) I might be able to help a bit, i've got some experience with music production and can provide with quality bass sound and other. Only problem is that i'm going to start studying at the university soon and might be short on time to work with this. But if this do take of, what will you be focusing on? (Realistic vs Movie Effect sound) Kind Regards Daniel Edited August 5, 2011 by DanielV
.kju 3244 Posted August 5, 2011 Thanks for your interest and good point Daniel. Personally I am open to both - realistic and movie effect type. From the technical perspective the goal is to make it modular. This means people can exchange or remove single sounds easily. Best would be certainly all three - a realism pack, a Hollywood pack and a mixed pack. For the start I think it makes sense to gather the available sounds from BI (ofp to arma) and community work (from ofp to arma) and acquire permissions to use them. This would be a good base to start with that can be modified and extended.
