ArmA 2 Reinforcements Won't Install... Securom is a *****

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Sorry!

I know this is naughty of me considering i just joined and started a new thread by myself.

But i didn't know of any better way in my current situation for getting assistance with my problem...

After an oppressive long day in the music studio i find myself wanting to unwind and lose myself into my newly bought Arma 2 Reinforcements Game I just bought from GAME from a UK retail outlet. Literally today.

So I lax in my chair and take out the CD or should i say DVD rather, insert it into my computer and run the AutoRun.exe for Arma 2 Reinforcements.

It comes up with its music and I click on

"Install REINFORCEMENTS".

It disappears and then nano seconds later a window by the name of ARMA2_RFT comes up and tells me:

"A required security module cannot be activated.

This program cannot be executed (7000).

Please have a look at http://www.securom.com/message.asp?m=module&c=7000 for further, more detailed information."

1 hour passes by and looking for any emulation device it persistantly accuses me of having I give up.

Tried googling this, but everyone seems to be having issues running OA and not the same problem im having.

I tried securom's XP solution of downloading this Resource kit for windows and then running some fixreg.vbs over it, and it did nothing, not to my suprise.

Ok, I'll just get down to facts and see if anyone can help:

What's your spec?

Windows 7 64bit

2TB

8GB Ram

Geforce GTX 460

i5 2500k Sandybridge 3.3ghz (4 CPU's)

dude i don't need to tell you it will Arma 2 in at least the lowest settings...

Do you really have emulation software on that Machine?

I did have daemon tools lite pro.

However because of this game, I had to eventually wipe it off

and all its registries to get this working.

And it did work, because the error number changed.

Have you restarted multiple times after each action?

Yes

Have you sent Securom an analysis file?

No... because I want my problem solved now,

and not when Arma 3 comes out

Now I have ^^ - because I had no other option too...

Pardon me,

I'm quite a nice guy lol.

Any suggestions?

:butbut:

Try this:

1. Uninstall all virtual CD/DVD software (daemontools, alcohol ...etc) if you have any.

Use uninstalling software, aka Revo-Uninstaller if you have to.

2. Download securom removal tool to clean registry.

3. Insert Reinforcements DVD and run installer again.

hope that helps.

 It didn't work..............

And securom is wiped off my system.

There is no trace of Daemon tools either and I made sure prior to proceeding with the install...

There are rumours apparently if you have a DVD RW Drive Securom is abit iffy.

But if that's the case, Securom should have contacted me before I bloody built my PC and told me to put a DVD Rom in it instead of an RW.

there must be something else...

I have to now find a way to bypass this check.

I have a DVD RW and SecuROM is no problem for me. I still believe another program may be interfering.

You restarted after removing Daemon Tools, correct? Your getting the error you linked to above still?

I did that time ago.

It should no longer a problem.

Though there must be something still interfering.

Shall I send a dxdiag?

Here is what happens.

Insert disk.

Go to DVD Drive.

Run setup.exe

then:

"A required security module cannot be activated.

This program cannot be executed (7000).

Please have a look at http://www.securom.com/message.asp?m=module&c=7000 for further, more detailed information."

It's Error 7000.

I'm trying to figure out what it could be.

Problems like this I've fixed myself, but for once

its actually beyond me.

Error 7000.

It's beyond me.

Unless at the time when I uninstalled daemon tools there were some settings

that were switched on, that would mean i may have to reinstall and undo those settings

and then uninstall.

But settings should be wiped out after uninstall and reg delete???

---------- Post added at 11:09 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:47 AM ----------

hahaha...

I created a new account.

Just a standard one not Administrator.

Logged in that.

Ran Autorun then clicked Install REINFORCEMENTS.

The pointer changed into a CD Check icon and then

it said I don't have sufficent rights to perform install then closed.

What I then did was logged out, went back into my admin account and then

changed the Test account into an admin and then tried installing it again.

It said "ERROR 7000" WTF!!!!!!?

hmmm.

I am going to experiement with the standard accounts, something could be achieved here.

On the other hand it is really unsettling, how you pay for original, legal product, and you can't install, because of security features.

I've had that with some UbiSoft games in the past.

That is a big turnoff, I'd say.

People that steal it, don't have this problem.

Hackers remove security features for them, or give them instructions, how to bypass them.

So in simple words; all these security features,

hurt only legitimate, legal customers.

Yeah you hit the nail on the head pretty hard there.

I may have a small light with this user account business.

But in all, no one should have to go through the measures I have to

just to play a game I've bought.

Since I found out that I can't be an admin without it activating the Securom.

And I can't be a Standard Account without it telling me i need Higher Access [like a fricking admin.]

I'm copying all the contents of the DVD to my Desktop in Admin mode.

Sharing this folder with my Standard Account and tell the computer I can have permission to read or write in this or do what the hell i want.

Then I will switch users to the standard TEST one and try and run setup from there.

This better work............

Sorry!

I just wanted to show a solution for those who legitamately bought the game.

I've never had an issue with any sort of security features on games. I've only hit my activation limit which is no problem.

And if you are still getting that 7000 error, then yes, you must re install Daemon Tools and disable any options you might have had. These can be saved even during uninstallation.

Hey,

Its cool.

I got it fixed.

Turns out it was more a registry problem since i had uninstalled everything.

Securom got back to me with a Reg Fix and i think it did it really.

On the other hand, my other guide, I've now found a more legitamate straight foward way:

Just Install the RFT on another computer,

Backup Reg's and Copy Main Folder and

Export to Main Computer... simples.

Tiz what I did.

And then by the time Securom came in I tested the Error out and it bypassed it fine.

Everyone's happy.

Mod you can mark this as [solved]
