Balschoiw 0 Posted May 23, 2002 Hi ! My question is rather simple. I want to know if there is any software out there that enables me to record, waht happens on my screen like a video recorder. I dont want stills, have no TV card or mpeg card. Is it possible to do it or not ? And in case it is..what programs are used for that?
Placebo 29 Posted May 23, 2002 I've dabbled but never had much joy, guess I wasn't patient enough to play around with the settings, there's a few proggies out there, not sure how many I'll be able to remember though..... HyperCam Camtasia Video Capturix 2002 (not sure if this one does it) CyberCam CamStudio There may be more but I got bored looking Try looking here for any I missed

NEO -PZ- 0 Posted May 23, 2002 I think CamStudio was alright. But not for recording OFP. Didn't work well at all. How do you do that btw? (Recording in OFP.)
SKULLS_Viper 0 Posted May 23, 2002 The hyper cam puts a stamp thing in the top and it is really anyoing, unless... you register and pay for it.But to use it, you have to minamize OFP, then select Hyper cam, then restore OFP, then hit Shift F12 or some thing simulare, which makes it record. advocatexxx 0 Posted May 23, 2002 You can't expect any acceptable performance from any of these recorders. Keep in mind that such a video capture has to take a full screen screenshot 1024x768 for example 15-20 times a second, resize it and compress it. That's a lot of cpu power being sucked up alone, now add to that the fact that your cpu also has to run the game smoothly enough to produce stable results. See my point ? When they record such movies for games demos they usually have a separate piece of hardware which does the whole screen capture thing by itself, but some cards cost a hefty buck. SKULLS_Viper 0 Posted May 23, 2002 I have even tryed recording my desktop and a couple of other things, and the proccesor use was only 10%.It's just that Hyper Cam is crap.Plus the stamp. Maybe i should try some thing else, but i just got lazy cause there are about 1000 of them, plust anthor 1000 for pic takers.
icecain 0 Posted May 24, 2002 Recording full screen on a software capture program results a very low frame rate. If you record it from window mode, the performance vs. quality is quite acceptable. I've done this before, add the "-window" parameter to the OFP shortcut, and set the ingame resolution to 320x240. I use Corel capture (a sub program of Coreldraw) with 15 fps, noncompress avi setting To play ofp in a such small windows is not easy, because the in game mouse will easily moving out of window. If you just want to record the cutscene, that shall be no problem. Besides, the corel capture is not able to record sounds, so I actually use addtional Goldwave to record the sound simultaneously. Then you can combine both video/sound in TMPGenc or other video authoring tools.
Sheriff 0 Posted May 24, 2002 Two words Dual processing. I believe you can pickup a good capture card for around 300-400 dollars AUS.
Balschoiw 0 Posted May 24, 2002 Thx a lot guys! It works quite good with Dual 1400 Athlon and 768 MB RAM. I run OFP windowed on 640x480. I will try to increase Resolution. Once again. Thx a lot !
