Cyper 18 Posted June 19, 2011 Why does this happen? http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/833/whyh.png/ When I review the clip all I see is gray. Sometimes, I can see the clip, sometimes I can't. Sometimes it works to restart movie maker but sometimes it doesn't. What the fuck? Also, sometimes a red ''x'' pops up randomly on any clip, like it's saying that the clip is removed or placed elsewhere which it simply isn't.

Cyper 18 Posted June 19, 2011 Because Movie Maker is a disaster, unfortunately it always has been. Yes. It's not the first time I've had problem with it before. I have two versions; The orginal for XP and the one for Windows 7. What's really funny is that they've removed A LOT in the new version. The only good thing about it is that it got more stability to it compared to the orginal and that it's possible to upload movies in HD. The orginal on the other hand is somehow afucked up for real. Takes forever to save any movie with decent quality to it, and often, I end up with an error, so all the work I put into the movie was pointless. It's pathetic. All I want is to create about a trailer for a arma campaign i am doing. Is there any decent free movie editor out there? Otherwise
Tankbuster 1746 Posted June 19, 2011 What version of Windows you using, Cyper? ---------- Post added at 01:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:17 PM ---------- Ah, cross post. Cyper, try to get the version that comes with Vista. I find that one works best with Win 7.

The Movie Maker on Windows XP was still usable but the new one is just a waste of hard drive space. If you're after creating quick and simple videos with a couple of titles then I can recommend Video Spin, its free, similar to Movie Maker, except that it isn’t as crap and doesn’t freeze or crash when you try to do something. 1) Place your mouse pointer in the top right corner of the movie maker window and click the "X" button. 2) Download and install Video Spin, http://www.labnol.org/software/download/video-spin-better-video-editor-windows-movie-maker-free-youtube/2254/

In terms of effects and videoediting, the orginal movie maker was good for me in that case, but I can't use it due to the fact that It's not reliable and simply doesn't offer good videoquality. Video Spin sounds good but It says that It only works for XP with SP2 or windows vista. I have windows 7.
-martin- 10 Posted June 19, 2011 Video Spin sounds good but It says that It only works for XP with SP2 or windows vista. I have windows 7. Bah, don't even read that, Windows 7 is basically Vista. Besides for most aplications compatibility between Windows versions isn't a big issue, I still run games and apps from Windows 95 on Windows 7. So I can say that 99.9% Video Spin will work on Windows 7. Give it a try

Give it a try Dude, Video Spin was awesome! It basicly have everything I need and a little more! The only downside is the stupid watermark that is in the free version. I also experienced lagg, but that's probably because I use fraps to record, 60 fps, so I got a map with about 6gb for a four minutes trailer.
