new to arma 2.confused about all the realeses..

Recommended Posts

Been using and creating addons since OFP 1.96 and find it very easy but this does not eliminate the fact the A2 CO OA etc. combos are very confusing for new players so no - it is not simple.

If you played this since Earth begun you are disqualified to throw shit on new players not getting the setup/needs. Simple as that.

Guys i to was absent for a long time, i would like to have some nice mods installed.

What i want is,

- good realistic sound mod

- realistic effects mod (effects, explosions, smoke etc).

- and of course realism in general, gameplay.

And i have Arma2 box version, along with sprocket Operation Arrowhead and Private Military Corperation.

IS that double? I am installing Arma2 and then OA.

What patches i need to install?

If you want realism then you should look at ACE and for sound my fav mod is the JSRS mod , although that's really a matter of personal taste. JTD's fire and smoke mod is also worth a try.

As for patches; after you have installed A2 and OA (together they form "Combined Operations") and PMC DLC (in that order), I think the game updates as part of the installation process, but I may well be wrong.

If I am wrong download the latest patch (which is v.1.59) from here and you're set :D

But isnt that strange, i have Arma2, OA and PMC. And i dont think that update will help, i dont have the reinforcements pack.

I am done installing, i have now 3 shortcuts

1- ArmaII

2- ArmaII Combined Operations

3- ArmaII Private Military Company (With PMC mod in exe file).

I am really confused, whats what?

You don't need the PMC shortcut

Put them here: X:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2

Arrowhead browser has a addon manager built in

Arma 2. you can enable addons using shortcuts or a third party launcher from Armaholic.

Use the Arma 2 icon to launch and play on just Arma 2 servers and use the Combined operations for servers that use both.

Just to make it clear Combined Operations is Arma 2 and Operation Arrowhead combined, and as the PMC DLC is part of Combined Operations- the only shortcut you ever need to use is the Combined Operations one.

Hope that helps :D

Jup and mods too, I can't stop thinking about Arma 3 cause I know it will be half done like arma 2 was and it will be very hard for people to menage 1000 bits of the game and linking it all together..

I thought Arma 2 was rushed out a little to get some cashflow. Now they have the cashflow, surely they will be able to get Arma3 right and not release it in a half broken state...
