Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted May 24, 2011 (edited) The music was the only element that I never realy like about OFP, ArmA and ArmA2. I hope they come up with something that sounds less machine like and more orchestral. More like Sunrise on Mecury, maybe a bit more powerful and faster. I think you are one of the few who thinks like that, the music is usually praised on these forums and i even unPBO'ed everything and have it in my regular playlist. Also, the games have their share of orchestral music. Think of Cobalt, Dead Forest, 'Song 4' from OFP (Need to fix those tags..) and more agressive orchestral music like Defcon Three and Ghost Walz and The Movement. You might certainly be right about that. But at least I am consistent with my general attitude that ArmA3 should go back to OFP days where story and athmospherics were the prime elements. Or maybe I am just getting old. ;)
purepassion 22 Posted May 24, 2011 @Prof haha i hope she will sleep next to your laptop again @Albert well in the video madmusti posted the sound quality is very poor. They had some good soundtracks in OA but overall, there is still space for improvements.
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted May 24, 2011 Or maybe I should have put it clearer with "by sea; Lord of war". (the real tune starts after about 1+ min) I remember having used it in one of my early (shitty) ArmA1 videos. http://www.pecospete.de/vidblog/?portfolio_item=title3
NeMeSiS 11 Posted May 24, 2011 Or maybe I should have put it clearer with "by sea; Lord of war". (the real tune starts after about 1+ min) Its a good song but i dont really see how it is different in style from what we currently have. Its pretty similar to, for example, Reforger from ArmA2. Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted May 24, 2011 Its a good song but i dont really see how it is different in style from what we currently have. Its pretty similar to, for example, Reforger from ArmA2. I am looking for the right terms here. I am generally fine with every style of music, but I think so far the BIS soundtracks sounded too much like a cheap synthesiser production. To exaggerate it a little, it reminds me of poor beggars sitting in the city centre and playing on their 100€ electric pianos with predefined beats and background melodies. Whats wrong with getting a real orchestra and record the main melody and then to enhance it with the required base and beats. It is the Czech Republic after all. A nation with tons of talented classical musicians. This is part of their heritage. No reason to replace that with plastic key piano music! But I guess they are well aware of it. Soundtracks are an expensive factor I assume. [/exaggeration] [/cheap polarisation]

bezzzy 10 Posted May 25, 2011 (edited) @Albert In general, I do agree that a few of their tracks sound a little generic or 'cheap' as you put it. They are really not too bad though, and as NeMeSiS mentioned, they do have some outstanding orchestral songs. Have you heard All Helll Breaks Loose? Starts at 2:42. I'm hoping that A3 will contain a lot more tracks like this, not always with an epic or fast paced tone, but more use of an orchestra would be brilliant.
