Dwarden 1125 Posted March 30, 2011 while some of the sounds are from soundbanks or older recording others are not, just so You understand how sound recording was done for the rest (new sounds): visit the photo gallery from several recording sessions http://www.silentnoise.cz/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=104%3Asound-recording-gallery&catid=6&Itemid=11 more details about equipment: http://www.silentnoise.cz/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=76&Itemid=11 http://www.silentnoise.cz/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=78&Itemid=12 http://www.silentnoise.cz/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=75&Itemid=
maturin 12 Posted March 31, 2011 I see them recording a Dragunov there. Did you actually use that sound? Because IIRC all rifles have an especially terrible sound by default. ---------- Post added at 08:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:06 PM ---------- But why would they do that? They'd have to rent the military base for a week otherwise. And you can't really record explosions, not without sophisticated equipment and a ton of editing. Dwarden, do you know where you guys got your sonic cracks from?
EasyC 10 Posted April 1, 2011 I like the bird sounds in Chernarus, some of them are straight out of FarCry which is cool :)

The sound sample i linked to, at least some of the sounds there are in the default game i think, however, in the sample they all have a certain 'Umphf!' that is completely lacking in the game itself, that is what i was mostly wondering about. From the photo's they have recorded at least most of the weapons used by the Czechs, and the sample proves that the recordings are good. However once ingame, all the weapons sound like shit. I just dont understand why, even with the crappy soundengine there is no reason for the weapons to sound this bad while vehicles sounds are good.
maturin 12 Posted April 1, 2011 I notice that the sounds are rather Bluefor-centric. American weapons have a decent amount of oomph, whereas AKs and such are washed out pops with no hint of the sonic crack or the sound of the action. My impression is that they are designed to sound good at distance, whereas the Marines that people sadly play 90% of the time have weapons that sound better up close.
