(Discussion thread here) Hi everyone... A bit of an unusual request... I'm currently trying to locate copies of early beta versions - I have 1.54.74123, so I'm looking for any other patches earlier than that, basically... Why? Well - one of the best things about using the arma2oa.exe instead of buldozer.exe for island-making is that the new Arrowhead .exe includes new keyboard controls for manually adjusting terrain heights in Visitor 3! - Deeply handy for making the edges of roads smoother... With buldozer, the minimum amount we can twitch the ground surface is 1m at a time - this is one of the reasons you might see some fairly jagged terrain here and there in early user islands... But the Arrowhead .exe has key controls for adjusting terrain vertices by 30cm - and 10cm!! - MUCH better for fine-tuning terrains... Anyhow - all was well to start with and using the Arrowhead .exe seemed to work just nicely... However, round about the move to 1.56/1.57 using the current .exe started resulting in huge project loading times... from a couple of minutes loading times, terrain projects started taking an hour or more to load!! Serious bummer... Many people have found that by lifting the .exe and appropriate files from the official 1.54 or earlier patch, they're back to short loading times... Not an option for me since I have a Steam version OA - lifting the .exe from the disk/retail version patch just results in demands for DVD's... Of course - Betas were the answer and the island makers with steam installs were OK using betas to access the new height controls... I.54 seems to work for most people - but not for me so far... so I'm trying to figure out precisely what's different between the older and newer versions... So - long story short... finally... If anyone has any early beta patch .zips for OA - preferably 1.54 or earlier - could you kindly PM me ??? or email me via my sig or something... I'd be seriously grateful... It might just help me not only figure out why we can't use the newest betas, but also get me working on my project again... :D Sorry about the marginally off topic thread and thanks for reading, guys... An issue like this was fixed in 77808: [77808] Fixed: Loading of some world was very slow unless -exThreads=0 was used. I recently upgraded to an i7 950 & 6GB - before I had an AMD Dual core and 4gb... The 1.54 beta I mentioned earlier worked OK before I upgraded, but after restoring my P:\ drive on the new system it didn't seem to work anymore... that's when I started trying newer versions, despite the recent loading time reports...
