ok here it is iv been making a mission were you are in a middle of a town and you get attacked by zombies but there one proplem theres no zombies in ofp so you can geuss what im going to ask for and up to now iv been using gimbles tossers for zombies but tossers dont have a zombie feel to them and they toss bottles at u i whant them to bite rraaa!!!

Actually, I'd quite like zombies in Opf!!! Think of the "Dawn of the dead" style missions you could make.

You have most of the elements already: heavy hardware, soldiers, civilians and plenty of buildings, albeit there are no large cities (something which annoys me; example: I'd love to see a Leningrad-style fight in a massive town.)

I am sure there would be a massive demand for such a mod. I mean, you have sites like www.homepageofthedead.com which have thousands of subscribers.

PS: I'm no Romero uber-fanatic. No flames please!

Im not flaming you guys but im pointing out something.

This is a MILITARY game!Not Resident Evil.

I mean if you want to make a wierd mission, i say go for it, but putting zombies in it would just be like Resident Evil. So if you want to kill zombies play Resident Evil, not Operation Flashpoint.

PS: You could use the addon pack of all those character from other games murphy man. The pack was created by Cpt.Moore i believe.

^^ i agree it might be kinda fun but the point is that it dose not fit in with the game it would just come out fun to play with but with no real point. Not putting you down or anything cause it would be kinda fun just to walk up to a zombie say "HI" and then take his head off with a shotgun lol. other than that just a dreamthat wont happen.

It is true that OFP is a military game, but surely if there is a demand for such a mod who are you to say no? Let the masses decide!

I believe OPF is ideally suited for such a game, because in what other 3D combat game do you have:

a) buildings that you can climb

b) decent AI (this completely rules Ghost Recon out)

c) nice graphics that use your PC's gfx to the full (on a Radeon 8500, like mine, the graphics are brilliant. ),

d) comes with a mission editor as standard

e) Has a built in scripting language

e) now has a 3D model editor?

Resident evil doesn't have any of the above. What, you think 640 x 480 graphics qualifies for item © ?!!!

Whoever says "QUAKE 3" for the above needs shooting!

If anyone's watched the film "Dawn of the dead" the rolling landscapes in that film suit OPF to a "T".

Im all for zombies if it is done well. But to be honest, i cant imagine it being very challenging with OFPs vast open terrain. You could pick off thousands of zombies all day to your hearts content until you ran out of ammo. Then you can simple skip and dance in front of the zonbies, teasing them for being so slow.

To avoid such a scenario, it would be up to the mission/ campaign creators to place the player in claustrophic situations, taking for example the mall in Dawn of the Dead: Tight spaces, lots of dark rooms, no escape except via a helicopter in the roof that needs to be refuelled...

Lots of triggers could be used for the "shock" factor (zombies springing out at you) and of course you could have 3rd parties like bikers and cops (SWAT teams) etc.

So, to close: if there's any kind souls who want an audience of thousands to see their name - this is the mod to make!!

PS:

I'm 30 years old and still talking about zombies. How sad is that?

Look, any kind of new addon opens up a whole new world for misssions.

I got that Driods addon, and I'm already making a campaign based on just having that one addon.

If some time in the future, we could have zombies... It would rock all kinds of ass.

I think there are a zombie face on ofp.gamezone.cz , you could just set it on a civilian and set his behaviour to careless, place a trigger that kills you if the zombies get to close to you, arm a civilian with the hunting rifle and make a town on desert island and there you have it.

and hovmand iv all ready tried that idear a part from the face but the trigger needs u to put the name of the person thats going to be the zombie and if your going to be surrounded by thounsands of them its a long and the trigger works when it wants to.

Who's talking about zombies being intelligent? You need your AI buddies to be intelligent.

Can't imagine going it totally alone, can you?

Last thing I'd want is a horde of zombies to appear in full view with all my AI troops looking at a camp fire holding hands waiting for me to say "ALL, DANGER"

Hmmm. I got to say ,I'd like to give a zombie mission a try. I can see it now. Driving down a deserted road on malden, and your car dies on you. You get out and see the sun is going down fast. When you think you see someone in the forest near you. Hello? somebody there!?! Hmmmm ,ST louis is only a few miles from here I can walk it. But I better take my shotgun

OFP is the coolest game out there ,because you can make it into almost anything you want. Thats a selling point as far as I'm concerned. Zombies or alien woolybugger addons won't kill OFP ,actaully it might give the game a wider audience.

I took avons advice and gave FIRELORD a shot ,and it was F"ing cool!!! Hope to find more missions like it in the future.
