How do you realistically call in close air support?

ArmA2 at the moment is incredibly unrealistic in regards to vehicles.

Which is how it should be. The main part of the game is infantry, we could basically have BF2 vehicles in, for all I care, the important part about vehicles are their ballistics and requiring multiple people to operate. Everything else, IMO, can be unrealistic, as long as those two things stay true.

We dont fight WW1 in Arma.

Every Army now is Mobile Trucks, Apc, IFV, Tanks, Airpower are a basic tool´s in every army.

Thats the things a INF man has to counter or evade.

A DMG model and Armor that are acting real not 100% real is esential even for a "INF combat trying simulating game or what ever".

With RPG/AT4 from 1000++ meters taking M1A1/2 T-90 frontal has nothing to do with Simulating Inf combat thats Holywood.

Hiting a truck with a HEAT round from a RPG/AT-4 in the back uper left corner of the cargo bay and looking how the whole trucks blows make me think, why?

Many things have change since AO lets see what hapen next.

About that discussion on DCS A-10 - it would be entirely possible to get realistic plane behaviour and results without going into all the detail that DCS does - you could make it not much more complicated than it is now in fact. I don't care all that much about how complicated something is as long as the results are realistic. ArmA2 at the moment is incredibly unrealistic in regards to vehicles.

Well this is the question, we have maybe in this forum some people who have actually real life datas/expirience how such atg/anti tank missile systems work versus modern vehicles and tanks. The movment of the main gun could be more realistic aswell, its like pointing with a rifle and not a heavy gun hehe ...but nvm.

The lack of a realistic damage model is one thing, but what about that you see almost everyone running around with an atg weapon on the back. How many atg´s or even rocket systems are available in a fireteam, how rare is it ?

The role of a tank seems not be that powerfull anymore like in earlier wars, but are tanks really that easy decimated from infantry like we have ingame, can infantry counter tanks like ingame ? Well, you show up with a tank and in many cases only minutes later you are gone from infantry fire. I guess one of the reason is also that we dont have really frontlines.

That, and the utter lack of dispersion with any rocket, just a flat, slowly sloping trajectory. And fast reload times with no preparation.

Arma2 is a great grunt simulator so who needs planes anyway, ha ha?
