Will it work on a dedicated server ?

Recommended Posts

In soooo many posts and releases of mods and scripts, I constantly see that people will state that they have not tried it on a "dedicated server".

What is so different about running a script on a dedicated server vs any other way?

Perhaps if I could get that answer, it would help solve some of the issues such as the SSM module not working on it.

- Dedi has no "player".

- Local commands run on dedi will not affect/show up on any player (client) unless the specific command has global effect.

IMO, making scripts to work on dedi is easier, or at least less work, than to make them support hosted server as well.

Its all about the right tools (Or a bunch of global variables you broadcast to all clients). It is not that hard as people say it is. They are just too lazy to sit and think for couple of minutes how to make the feature work like intended...

Have you tried using the SSM Module on a dedi ? If so, then how would you make it work ? Please enlighten me as I am at a loss here.

It may work that way for you but I was expecting it to work this way...http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Simple_Support_Module

I have seen many an old "bug" report that was resolved using scripts instead of waiting tirelessly for BIS to get around to "fixing" it. Your sarcasm and humor not appreciated.

Thanks

I agree with you that there should be some mentions in biki site about this kind of issues.

Sorry about the sarcastic nature of my last post.
