bravozr 10 Posted January 6, 2011 Just bought Arma II OAH. I have updated with the latest patch for the game to 1.57 As soon as I start the game it goes through the company logos and then flashes up the game menu but then goes black then flicks back with a red screen and then goes blank and plays the menu music. I alt tab out of it and then find the graphic driver have crashed and recovered. I can then only quit the game using task manager. I have tried some of the different beta drivers from Nvidia, also tried some of the compatibility settings to improve performance from different posts. Tried running in XP compatibility mode and also as an admin. Nothing has worked, still the same problem with a couple of blue screen of deaths thrown in. Its a shame really cant even get to the menu... As far as I am aware I meet the required specs... Any ideas? Thanks. ------------------ System Information ------------------ Operating System: Windows Vistaâ„¢ Home Premium 64bit (6.0, Build 6002) Service Pack 2 (6002.vistasp2_gdr.100608-0458) Processor: Intel® Core2 Duo CPU T7700 @ 2.40GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.4GHz Memory: 4094MB RAM --------------- Display Devices --------------- Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTX DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC Display Memory: 2286 MB Dedicated Memory: 495 MB Shared Memory: 1791 MB Current Mode: 1920 x 1200 (32 bit) (61Hz) Driver Name: nvd3dumx.dll,nvwgf2umx.dll,nvwgf2umx.dll,nvd3dum,nvwgf2um,nvwgf2um Driver Version: 8.17.0012.6099 (English) DDI Version: 10 BGRA Supported: Yes Driver Attributes: Final Retail Driver Date/Size: 10/16/2010 13:55:00, 12788840 bytes WHQL Logo'd: Yes
teaboy 11 Posted January 6, 2011 Did you patch to the latest version of 1.57, or did you purchase through steam? It sounds like the problems that alot of people had when ARMA 2 first game out with all the CTD at menu screen. So if you haven't patched do so and try it and get back to let us know. Otherwise post up (in spoliers) what it says in your ARMAOA.RPT File. As that is likely to give us a clue as to what the course is and as such point you in the direction of a fix for it. bravozr 10 Posted January 6, 2011 I patched to 1.57 myself. Bought the retail version. I haven't been able to find the report file you mentioned, I searched in the arma directory and then did a computer wide search... This is what it says in the Event viewer error log: Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

ast65 10 Posted January 6, 2011 Go to directX controlpanel, select direct draw tab and fix your refresh rate at 60 Hz.
Tally 10 Posted January 7, 2011 (edited) Everything works fine on all my other games... I see from your specs that you are running it on a laptop GPU, so I guess the card is dying immediately when it is asked to run Arma2. Perhaps your other games are better optimised for laptop GPU's. The only thing I can suggest is to turn every performance setting down to the lowest you can set it at and try and run it with very low settings. Edited January 7, 2011 by Tally replaced mobile with laptop as it sounded silly!
bravozr 10 Posted January 8, 2011 Here's what happens in video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7M_cST_GdqQ I have tried to reduce the resolution etc, changed the hrz to 60 etc... But each time the game starts it loads up in max res and I cant get to the graphics options in time to change the setting before it crashes...
ast65 10 Posted January 8, 2011 You can change your resolution manually in ArmA2 config under documents :)

rfc 10 Posted January 8, 2011 Omg, the last time I've seen something like this the hardware died :p From a first sight it really looks like your hardware is overloaded, good like trimming all settings down ...
