timmy 0 Posted May 11, 2002 I always have found it kind of odd that in ofp ordinary grunts had radios, and every single one of them had radios, not just one radio man. I dont think this is very realistic, but i may be wrong. But thats not the point. My point is that i dont think the infantry men in resistance should have raidos. Considering that this game took place a few years earlier, not to mention that theyre a bunch ill-equiped rag-tag militia men. has anyone heard any news about radios in the game? Tex -USMC- 0 Posted May 11, 2002 you are right, it is unrealistic. What do you suggest? because I would rather have the radio messages than hearing faint shouting from 200 meters off
FetishFool 0 Posted May 11, 2002 A short-range radio would cost you $100-$200 US. Â That's for a radio that's good for 300 meters, at least. They're not very expensive. I've heard a few stories of how the Resistance got all their gear. Â One story is that a local military donated it to them. Â Probably a Slovakian military. And another story of a rich resistance fighter buying all of it. In squads, only one guy has a long-ranged radio. Â But generally, everyone should have a walkie-talkie at least. Â Even a child's walkie-talkie is good for 25-50 meters.
Antichrist 0 Posted May 11, 2002 They're growing cannabis on the islands! Of course they've got money to buy a radio! They can even afford Aston Martin DB5
CanVagabond 0 Posted May 11, 2002 You really want that car don't you? How is Res. going to make sense? The Reds didn't attack Everon until the actual game?
Satchel 0 Posted May 11, 2002 According to the GOARMY site, U.S. soldiers have standard individual soldier intercoms (nowadays that is, not 1985), with limited range of up to 700m. This is meant for intra-squad communication, and basically it´s a good thing, as it has a greater range than shouting and enables one to transmit information more detailed than it would be possible via handsignals, if stealth is required, also the line of sight that is needed for handsignals doesn´t play a role anymore. Everyone that wandered through a thick and dark forest can imagine how difficult it is to always have visual contact to your groupmembers, especially if searching for cover/consealment, crouching or lying prone in dangerous situations, at night it´s almost impossible to use handsignals. But as said this transmitter receiver headset is only for com within a squad, if you need longer range to transmit i.e. recon reports etc, you need an VHF/Satcom/HF specialist that carries an according radio (no walkie-talkie ) within your group.
