BittleRyan 10 Posted January 4, 2011 Every half an hour my combined ops crashes to the desktop, but the game is still playing. For example, i will be driving my tank. My game crashes. But i still can move, i still can shoot my gun. When playing multilayer and it happens the people still can see and hear my gun shooting. And i have full control, but i see my desktop. Then i have to hard shut it down and restart, this has happened 10 or so times today... Any solutions?
metalcraze 290 Posted January 4, 2011 Just a wild guess - you have GTX260 or GTX280 or GTX295?
ast65 10 Posted January 4, 2011 Flushing prevents you at least from hardshutdown (hold shift and minus(num pad), then type *flush*)
Thats_Life 2.0 10 Posted January 4, 2011 I have a 285 and I had the same problem. First cool your videocard more. I had mine case vans on silenced. Now on medium. It helps more then 5 Celcius. Also check the Nvidia thread. Problem is now gone. Arma 2 asks allot from your type of card. Mine went over the 80 celcius. When it happends again. Use schift + numpad - and type flush. It will start the game again. Hope it helps..
Gunter Severloh 4064 Posted January 4, 2011 Cooling in general is fairly important, its not only the card that can overheat everything but your cpu, and the mobo gives heat too. Inadequite ventilation will keep things warm as well as a nice layer of dust on everything which would act as insulation. So at least twice a year open your case up and and clean it out, remove the dust, install more fans, and if you have a fan built into your gpu card, like mine I have a Evga Nvidia GTx 260, run the fan at 75-90% and you will maintain the temps 60c and under.
