How do i find games to join

Recommended Posts

Hi, although I've been playing Flashpoint since day one, I've never tried the multiplayer game. Now I've finally got unmetered internet I want to give it a go but I don't know where to find hosts to join.

I tried the ip and port address from a thread calle "free fedicated server" but there didn't appear to be any games running.

Is there a website with server ip's or something? I'd rather not use gamespy or anything like that.

Also, do I need to disable the XP firewall to play?

Cheers

It's a good choice not to use Gamespy. wink.gif

You should give the All-Seeing Eye a try. It lists you a lot of servers, with current status, players logged in, played map, a.s.o.

No chat, no addvertises.

About the firewall, I am no expert, but tendancy on this board is to shut down firewalls while playing.

Shutting down the firewall is not necessary, nor would I recommend doing so, although it is the quickest and easiest way to start playing Internet games.

Instead, you should get the list of ports required by OFP and open up just those ports / port ranges in the firewall. That way, you retain the benefits of a firewall while still being able to play on-line.

No need to turn down the XP firewall when joining a server... For hosting however, u will need to turn down the firewall, otherwise others can't enter your game... hope that helps...

I successfully used The All Seeng eye.

My 'session' keeps getting dropped when I play online, is there anyway to avoid this?

Not true. As long as the proper ports are open, you can host with a firewall.
