AlienXXI 10 Posted December 30, 2010 When I use the in game headset, people say they can hear static, but not my voice. However, when I play other games or am on Vent or a program like that, people can hear me just fine. I have the mic volume set to high so I don't know what is going on. Nephris1 10 Posted December 30, 2010 (edited) Are you talking about Teamspeak3/2, Ventrilo, Mumble or just VoN implemented in ArmA2? I guess u applied the correct keys?! What do u mean by people say they can hear static, ? Can u record your own voice via windows tools to check your microphone is working properly?Just to be sure, although "people said they can hear you".Just to eliminate all possible issues. AlienXXI 10 Posted December 30, 2010 When I use the Arma 2: OA in game voice chat (default key is CAPS LOCK), people say they can hear static, but not my voice. However, on other video games with in game voice chat, people hear me just fine. Also, people hear me just fine on Vent and other similar programs. I just want to know how I can fix it so people can hear me through the Arma 2: OA in game voice chat
pipscouse 10 Posted December 30, 2010 (edited) I have the exact same problem. I have posted on this before but nobody has suggested a fix for this yet. Like you, my headset mic works fine with TS3 (which I use when playing as it's the only way to talk to clan members). I HEAR everyone else fine through VoN. When I hit CapsLock my name appears as if I am speaking through VoN but no-one can hear anything I say. As such, I am pretty sure the problem lies with the game not picking up my mic rather than with my headset. Very frustrating Edited December 30, 2010 by pipscouse
AlienXXI 10 Posted December 31, 2010 Anyone can help me? I thought this was the troubleshoot section where people come for help? Are there some ports I need to open? It does not make sense that I can talk fine on any other game or program that has voice chat, but I have problems on this game.
Nephris1 10 Posted December 31, 2010 Did u change the key already to another one?
AlienXXI 10 Posted December 31, 2010 No, I did not change the talk key to any other key. Caps lock is what was set as default to talk in Arma 2: OA and I have not changed it.
Nephris1 10 Posted December 31, 2010 Well, i would change it just for testing to any free one.
AlienXXI 10 Posted December 31, 2010 (edited) I don't think changing the hotkey for the talk button will make any difference, but I will give it a shot. Edit: No, people still claim that they only hear static when I try and talk. Edited December 31, 2010 by AlienXXI

pipscouse 10 Posted January 18, 2011 Sorted. New dedicated headset has worked. I just needed to play about with default playback and recording devices in Windows 7. A big thank you to everyone for their interest and suggestions.
