ladlon 10 Posted December 28, 2010 I like things being random, and not always the same... so I was really pleased to see mods like Cipher and Guerilla Warfare being made, which I play pretty much exclusively in A2 and OA. But, recently, it seems they have stopped production. I've seen nothing on their threads (and my suggestions/comments/questions sit there unresponded to), and no updates. Anyone know what has happened with them? BTW, I'm not talking Warfare stuff, as that's a bit more than I want to play... I just like stuff like Cipher, where you go in either alone, or with a small team, with a random objective, and totally random enemy types/placment. Even the Secop module in A2 was cool (and what I used up until I discovered the user mods). It would be a shame if all these projects were suddenly abandoned. They had great potential.... and, unfortunately, a few bugs or gameplay issues that need addressing. Anyone know what is up with them, or can point to any other similar type of mods? (Running Combined Ops with a few improvement mods... Not ACE yet...)
rübe 118 Posted December 29, 2010 Anyone know what has happened with them? Nope. But since you're that desperate, maybe this will cheer you up a bit: It's not yet finished, but already playable quite fine... This is my take on "random": RUBE_occupation.Takistan.pbo (A2/OA, single player) ^^ I will soon need some feedback anyway, hrhr. hmmm, I wonder, where will I get more, in the missions forum or in the scripting forum? :D
dmarkwick 259 Posted December 29, 2010 DAC3 is the best of the randomisation mods IMO :)
maturin 12 Posted December 29, 2010 Don't forget Flashpoint: Takistan and Zargabad. And that Chernarus mission called Breakthrough or something.
ladlon 10 Posted December 30, 2010 Hi, guys. Ya, I have the Flashpoint ones (although I need to check it there are any updates since my versions). I have to tinker with them some more. There was something about them (perhaps an earlier version?) that wasn't working for me... Guerilla Wars was very cool, but had some annoying bugs and gameplay elements that I wished would be changed (...namely, the annoying 'watching your guy convulse while the screen flashes red and fades in/out for 3-5 minutes, not being able to do anything.... and the chance that your escape from the enemy camp would be at night, in complete darkness, which ends up being virtually impossible, like playing a game without the monitor on!) Cipher was my favorite, but had (somewhat) occassional bugs, and would really benefit from being able to call in airstrikes, supplies, etc. What IS there is great... it is just crying out for additions. I checked out DAC3, but it appears more like something to use in mission making, rather than a standalone ranomd mission maker... although I could be wrong there, and will check it out more. I just got scared off by all the coding questions I saw on the thread for it. I'll also look into the others. Thanks for the suggestions. Keep them coming if there are others. I'm looking for single-player, random missions generators. I got to check out OA's Secop module, as I think that's been updated since Arma2.

No need to be scared, check out my beginner's guide :) You're right in that it's a mission design tool, but once you've made a mission that mission will be randomised as far as enemy patrols etc goes. Just give yourself an arbitrary goal, like removing an artillery base or something, then plonk it down in the middle of a DAC3 zone and bingo, randomised mission :)
