Diplomacy mod (If possible)

Im not sure how many of you are Civilization fans, though I think this idea would be appreaciated by most, and if it wasnt for the fact im only a beginner at scripting, I'd try to give it a go myself.

I think it would be a good idea to create a mod that allows the player to interact with various factions via UI, I

dont think its been suggested yet.

Just some ideas, think it's quite possible.

*Request aid.

*Call a ceasefire. (With changing levels of trust when broken)

*Make peace. (Success depending on your 'honourability')

*Declare war. (Which changes their disposition towards you - effects future negotiations)

*Ally with a faction against another.

*AI ability to commence negotiations (popup). e.g call a ceasefire if losing, demand surrender if winning - with player

choices like Refuse, accept, or only under certian terms and conditions. AI ability to make peace/surrender/request assistance or ally against you with another faction.

*Defect to opfor. Defect to independant. Defect to Bluefor.

*Threats to opposing factions if their troops are within your 'borders'.

*Suggest factions make peace or declare war against another.

*Share resources. (With score penalties if they are KIA or damaged).

*The list could go on..

Anywho, I know it's basicly copying sidmiers work in Civ games, tho if it's a community mod, whats the harm..

I like this idea very much. Unfortunately I have almost 0 skill in scripting so I can't help, however I would be really happy to see such a thing.

yes, sounds nice, but i also have zero scripting and coding skills

but it would be nice to have such mod (as also some more historic/ancient mods too)

it would be good if factions could have mixed choose of sides (for example in mission Russia with US against Caucas terrorists, than in next mission US vs Takistan but Russians as holding fire and keeping border etc.

would be good to have "more friendly" option too, as "alliant" play (for example cooperation during war, but if US/RU attack RU/US than they broke alliance etc.

if you suggest it, i would suggest some more waypoints in game

advanced "help" waypoint (would be usefull for SWAT to support regular Police when they are in danger, now we have waypoint "guard" but it works only once, and units move to unit only once, not follow when guarded unit moves ) ,

i would like second type of "stay/stop" waypoint , stopping not only leader but whole formation

would be good to have in this game action "retreat" (by trigger) cause now retreat not function well in SP missions

also in waypoints menu i would love to see "engage" "never alow engage" for teams/squads

now teamleader sends soldiers one by one to death, while they could stay in position of whole squad not engaging at all , just keeping position as one line

On the guard waypoint issue, i think the problem there is that you need to set up a trigger (Guarded by opfor/bluefor) then give a group a guard waypoint. It's actualy quite advanced i think, e.g the nearest group will guard the trigger radius if attacked, then the next group, then the next etc

modelling :D

i tried to do such mission (you are policeman, in case of danger on patrol duty, you call for SWAT support, SWAT arrived, but they stayed in first point when they were called, when policeman moved to another location and called for support again, SWAT not moved), i put "guard" waypoint, i put "repeat" instead of "once", i tried "ap distance < 50" etc.

Custom made supports

Try this: If you set the units you want and give the leader of the group a hold waypoint.

Then create a trigger which activates on say radio Alpha, set axis a and b to zero, set to repeatedly, make the trigger a switch then type in the activation box sumthing like: Hint: "Swat team coming to you, over" so you know it's working.

Then sync 'F5' the trigger to the Hold waypoint, then give the leader a move waypoint to your player and make the waypoint timeout after say 60 Seconds (Min:60 Mid:60 Max:60) then another waypoint on the leader which is cycle.

So evey time you want support, just radio Alpha, they'll move to you, wait one minute, then return to their original postion untill you call again. P.s u can add a vehicle for them, after hold. get in, move, getout, (timeout), get in, move (back to base) then cycle.
