aaman 0 Posted November 20, 2010 (edited) Im looking for some simpler models of BIS units, specialy the soldiers. Even when i have all settings at lowest they still have 5 fingers on theire hands, i think it´s unesecery as i play CTI and want as many units as possible. The question is, has it been made and where can i download it? Cant find any. At the moment i run in groupsize 4, to get 35-40 fps. I want to keep my fps like that and have more units in the map. ---------- Post added at 09:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:21 PM ---------- Figured two hands on a soldier has almost as many polygones as a whole tank. rellikki 7 Posted November 21, 2010 (edited) Go to Flashpoint preferences (FlashpointPreferences.exe in your OFP installation directory) -> Advanced -> Details and increase your Objects LOD setting. This will reduce the graphics quality significantly and should get the results you want. You should also increase the Frame rate setting and decrease the Visual quality setting in the game options. The 1st person view will never be changed though, it is fixed as it is. Not that it matters much, since everything else will have a lower quality after those settings. Note that the CTI missions have a lot of scripts running, so your low performance might not be about your graphics, but rather your processing power. But you can always give it a try. rellikki 7 Posted November 21, 2010 So Objects LOD and shadows LOD can be set to the right to increas FPS?Trying now. No, the higher the number, the better the performance. Your settings are fine as you listed above.
aaman 0 Posted November 21, 2010 In graphic options i have. Hardware T&L: Enabled Multitexturing : Disabled W-buffer: Disabled Oblects shadow: Disabled Vehicle shadows: Disabled Cloudlets: Disabled Blood: Disabled Frame rate: set to the right 20..40 Visual quality: set to 8..20 Visibility: set to 1197 Terrain detail: Set to very low ---------- Post added at 11:52 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:47 AM ---------- No, the higher the number, the better the performance. Your settings are fine as you listed above. Ok, the funny, or not so funny thing is that i have a GTX260 card, and it´s doing nothing to improve the performance on these settings. Next time i go for the motherboard with two CPU´s instead.
rellikki 7 Posted November 21, 2010 Well, your settings already seem so low that I don't believe any kind of addOn could improve your performance anyhow. It's gotta be about your hardware.
aaman 0 Posted November 21, 2010 (edited) Well, your settings already seem so low that I don't believe any kind of addOn could improve your performance anyhow. It's gotta be about your hardware. Hmmm.... Look at this picture and you can se the soldier is in my opinion has more detail then needed for a good CTI game, look at the fingers, he would go as good with gloves. And it´s many other details that could be much simpler as well. http://img259.imageshack.us/f/flashpointresistance201c.jpg/ This is with the settings above. Is it hard to do some simpler models? If i dont find any, maybe i try to do somting. I would say the bad fps, it´s not so much about scripting as i try with many other objects, houses and script free things. If the improvement could bee 5-10 fps better i would be satisfied. ---------- Post added at 12:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:03 PM ---------- And here i have 92 soldiers, so the fps drops to 44. http://img403.imageshack.us/f/flashpointresistance201.jpg/ The same 92 soldiers running, fps now drops to 36. http://img34.imageshack.us/f/flashpointresistance201.jpg/ Here is 92 armored targets, very simple models, the fps did not drop anything, still 60 fps. http://img52.imageshack.us/f/flashpointresistance201d.jpg/ Compared with 92 BMP-2´s (empty) witch is a more complicated model, the fps drops to 29. http://img230.imageshack.us/f/flashpointresistance201.jpg/ So thats the problem with large battlefields, it would be nice to use the armored target as a model for a common tank, just make the turret rotate is all that needed. Think that this is not hard at all to do if you allready can make addons. Maybe anyone could do that pleas? So i pleas my self then.:) http://img230.imageshack.us/i/flashpointresistance201z.jpg/ Eight is better than one? http://img17.imageshack.us/i/buldozer201011220024592.jpg Edited November 22, 2010 by Rellikki
ww2weasel 10 Posted November 22, 2010 A simple suggestion: How about perhaps reducing amount of units but enlisting spawn scripts to keep the number of troops in game constant? A constant flow of Ai replacements to keep a player off balance. Smaller number of units if used properly in a mission could allow for a good gaming experience. aaman 0 Posted November 23, 2010 (edited) A simple suggestion: How about perhaps reducing amount of units but enlisting spawn scripts to keep the number of troops in game constant? . Absolutley not.:) The crcti games is allready in the servers on the net, and i really dont think its to much units on them, it could in fact be more. ---------- Post added at 02:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:19 PM ---------- Well, your settings already seem so low that I don't believe any kind of addOn could improve your performance anyhow. It's gotta be about your hardware. Now that i got a low poly model to compare with, it´s far away from complete, the polys could be half of what they are. But even with this model the results are more than i even would dare dream about. From 28 fps to 48 fps is not far from 100% improvment. The difference is 20 fps. When the models are complete the fps will rise even more. These kind of results is worth continue working with..:bounce3: Look at the pictures, 104 old BIS tanks against 104 "new" edited tanks. Old tanks Uploaded with ImageShack.us New tanks. Uploaded with ImageShack.us ---------- Post added at 02:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:26 PM ---------- And thats still MLOD. So i imagine there is no problem to rise the fps in a cti game with 2/3 = 150%. It look like the soldiers could be improved far more than the tanks. Just tested in multiplayer, and there is no problem. Its no wrong with the textures in bulldozer, look like i just have to figure out how the binarize tool work then. And really dont need those silly wheel animation. It´s just the gun you need to be afraid of, and it could be good to know where it´s pointing.
