Can AI control your platoon instead?

Recommended Posts

It's a pain in the ass controlling multiple units during battle! Whenever I control them it's just a complete mess. When I control them I just send them barreling towards the enemy and hope that they don't die. Is it possible for me to command just my squad while the AI controls the rest?

Of course. But you have to make the mission that way or download one like it.

I suggest you can just devide your squard into different teams (space>9>assign colors) and then you can use shift+unit of specific color to select whole team so that you can command your squard more conveniently and effciently.

What I tend to do in the editor is map out what i want the AI to do using waypoints and simple commands before the start of the mission/scenario. Once that is done they should carry out their 'orders'. In terms of coming across the enemy they will usually engage and deal with the problem themselves before moving onto their next waypoint/command, that is if their still alive.

hope this helped.

P.S Has anyone else noticed but in the editor the US units always have a significant AI advantage over the OpFor. To try this out set up two equal groups of tanks one BlueFor(US) one OpFor(Russian) and click preview while hovering over in a civvie heli(neutral). You will notice that all the russian tanks get eliminated while the US tanks will usually only suffer a few losses.

Your test is meaningless.

You should put BLUFOR>CDF>T72 tanks (2 platoons) and OPFOR T72s on the map, same quantities, same skill, same formation, same terrian and same impact azimuth, only that the test will be meaningful.

Not in several tests over different locations. If the same results consistently happen, you can draw a conclusion :)

Friendly units have an advantage over enemy units unless you monkey with the settings. And if you test a battle playing as a civilian, your results are still biased, since civilians are divided between Chernarussians and Russians. You need to watch things unfold as an animal or camera.

yes I have noticed this, as well as in Arma and OFP, but if you switch to play on the OPFor side then the same thing will happen,

but it all depends on the situation, or whats on the field.

try some AI mods that should throw a wrench in the system,:D
