MikeGTA4 10 Posted September 30, 2010 I went to various sites and people were warning me that converting from arma will get you in deep trouble is this true? Why?
TRexian 0 Posted September 30, 2010 Generally, yes. Because the stuff you would be converting belongs to someone else. Either BI (the makers of ArmA), or if it is community-made addon, then the model (usually) belongs to that person. It is similar to stealing, for you to take the model (or other asset) and use it for something else. It is not yours to make that decision. In the case of a community mod, you could probably contact the maker of the mod and ask permission to use it. There is a good possibility they will say 'Yes.' If it is a BI model, you can ask. But don't get your hopes up. ;)

TRexian 0 Posted September 30, 2010 If it makes you feel better, it isn't you ruining his plans. Rather, it is good sense and fair play. ;)
Big Dawg KS 6 Posted October 1, 2010 I went to various sites and people were warning me that converting from arma will get you in deep trouble is this true? Why? Because people generally don't like when you distribute their hard work without permission... especially if it's against their interests.
max power 21 Posted October 1, 2010 I think that you can always ask, but when BIS talks about what you can and can't do with their models, 'using their models in other engines' is something they often use as the example of things they don't allow.
W0lle 1052 Posted October 1, 2010 No permission from the original creators - no conversion into other games. Easy huh?
