BeerHunter 0 Posted September 15, 2010 Got the SSD and Id like to put ArmA2 on it for starters. Question is..how? Simply copying the folder over shouldn't work because of the damn registry entries. Can't reinstall as I lost the key to OA so have ordered a new combined set. Still waiting for it's arrival. Never have used a "ghosting" program. Would something like that work? Any assistance appreciated...at least until the new disc's arrive..or should I simply wait and do a clean install?
thedudeabides 40 Posted September 15, 2010 Wait and do a clean install. Use the program SSD Tweaker to optimize it
PogMoThoin 10 Posted September 15, 2010 Until You're prepared for a full reinstall you could just make a partition on the ssd, move the folders and make a symbolic link to it http://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/hardlinkshellext.html
Herr_kalashnikov 10 Posted September 15, 2010 I did that when i got my ssd. Just copy your original installation folder over to the new disk. Rename your old one just to avoid mistakes. Change the couple of registry entries so they point to your new location and you're done. Should take only a couple of minutes.
PogMoThoin 10 Posted September 15, 2010 (edited) No need for reg changes if You use symbolic hard links, the folder appears as if its still where it was. Cut the folder to the new drive, just click on the new drive folder --> pick link source, then return to the original folder --> right click --> drop as symbolic link Edited September 15, 2010 by PogMoThoin
BeerHunter 0 Posted September 15, 2010 Txs .. will give this a whirl if the disc's aren't here today.
Dead3yez 0 Posted September 15, 2010 Edit MAIN in start>regedit, once you moved the folder: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bohemia Interactive Studio\ArmA 2 or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Wow6432Node\SOFTWARE\Bohemia Interactive Studio\ArmA 2 second option, useful if you have steam. Move all main .pbo files over into new folder(s) and run as mod. -mod=d:\a2; but you will have to move all files back into their original folders if you're going to patch the game.
