Rewindlabs 10 Posted September 14, 2010 (edited) The OP has now been edited to reflect my current state on this project Good news: I have a decent model in Oxygen (So I think) Bad news: I cannot view the model in Buldozer as I am receiving an error "Too many vertices" I am not sure where to go from here even with the model in Oxygen so if I can square away this issue with vertices I need to know what my next step should be I can post up the model if you guys would like and you could let me know if its even possible to use this model in game Edited September 15, 2010 by Rewindlabs
wheres my rabbit ? 10 Posted September 14, 2010 (edited) hi well there's loads of different programs out there such as 3ds max , maya and other expensive professional tools , there's blender which is free and very good. you can also model in oxygen from bis, your going to have to put your model in oxygen anyway to set it up and make it work in the game. i'd say it doesn't really matter which one you use to make your model in as long as it can export into something that oxygen can import. .3ds or .obj personally i use 3dsmax but that's the program i learned to model in and everything else i try i get frustrated because i have to learn all the tools in different programs when i could have done what i was trying to do in a few minutes in 3ds max so pick a program and get to work... thats quite an ambitious first project tho :) good luck Edited September 14, 2010 by wheres my rabbit ? Rewindlabs 10 Posted September 14, 2010 Thanks for the reply man it is much appreciated I will start out looking at Blender with simplicity in mind because its free but if worse comes to worst I will find a way to get a hold of something like 3DS Max If what I am seeing is right it looks like all I will really need to do is some fancy import and export work using on of the GMC Vandura models already on the net After that I just need to put on the spoiler/pushbar/etc

PuFu 4600 Posted September 15, 2010 most likely the model you imported is to poly heavy for O2. 32k vertices is the top Buldozer can display per model (proxies not included). Instead of grabbing a model from some freeware site, i would start learning to do my own things. In the end, there will be more satisfaction.

Well if I had the time and leisure to do so I would but I am a bit stretched just to be doing what I am doing in the first place May be a possibility but that would be extremely time consuming
PuFu 4600 Posted September 15, 2010 addon making (no matter in which form) IS time consuming. You should be aware of that no matter if you grab a model from a 3rd party or do your own. This is not something you can do in your lunch break. Anyhow, you could work on the model you have, just use another program to reduce the poly/vert count. Blender is free, so that should be your first pick.
