Setviewdistance

I love testing this in maps, putting the view distance at 5000 (which is pretty amazing). Anyways, can i somehow set the view distance on pre-made maps? Like the official ones? I think it would be incredibally helpful to see further.

Also, whats the normal distance? Is it around 800 or something?

No, there's no cheat for it.

But you can use PBO Extractor V 0.5 by [2Stoned]Molotov to unpack and decompress(decrypt) missions. Then add in SetViewDistance in the editor.

The highest it can go is 3000. The default is probably 300 to 500. It's hard to say.

AFAIK default is 900

I've been setting it to 800 this whole time. 850 and 900 give me extra slow-downs for some reason.

The maximum permissible value is 5000, not 3000. The minimum is 500, and the default is 900. The unit of measurement is meters, of course.

I still think viewdistance should be an option in OFP Prefernces, so that those with good machines can enjoy the extra view.

(This is where all the deathmatch nuts tell me it's cheating, and I point out that you could override it in adversarial missions, and that I play mainly coop so it doesnt bother me).

I totally agree fubar, how about if there were a mission where there was supposed to be limited distance it could be set with the fog in the mission editor overiding your set view distance.

Gave up the search for a PBO extractor that could handle .sqm files a long time ago (back in the old demo time it was no problem). Had to look around for it quite some time now too, only one site had it on their utilities/dowload list.

At last I can modify MP missions to support team respawn biggrin.gif ; I usually play MP with my brother in COOP - when one dies there and only respawns as seagull, its just to restart again; gets quite frustrating and boring quickly (since most missions are 'unrealistic' difficult).... But now we can enjoy all good SP or MP missions ever made to ofp in MP!!!!

Regarding viewdistance; I always set it at 2000 when edit - its like a new game with it! Heard that BIS will improve textures in Resistance - I think it would be a vastly much better idea to make default viewdistance 2000 instead, or ADD more terrain.

Not true. Although few people could run smoothly with viewdistance above 3000, it can be done. I have set it so high that I can almost see from one end of Malden to the other. It was completely unplayable though sad.gif

how do i get this in my mission view distance ???whats the code confused.gif i asume i make a trigger and type .............in onactivation field

and is this just for human players only or will ai see far too?

You just write:

setviewdistance 2000

in the initiation field of you player unit for 2000 meters view smile.gif
