Just imagine calling someone "Sir" every 5 seconds for your whole life. ooooohhh....gives me the shivers, because one of my famliy members call me "Mr.President", I don't know why but it just came up on this great film starring Harrison Ford called "Air Force One". I just like to be in control all the time. Yes sir, i can boogie.
Guest Posted April 29, 2002 In the reserves now so im not active. If you are civilian then you don't call military personel "Sir". If anything you might be adressed that way by military personnel. What rank are you scout?

The normal second lieutenant is called 'fänrik' but both ranks are equal in terms of authority. The difference is that I can't be promoted any more (at least not peace time), so for the NCO's it is the final rank, while for an officer it is the first after finishing the academy. We discussed this in a thread before. It is something like your WO's. One major difference is that we have no professional enlisted men. All the people that are employed by the Swedish military are officers. The enlisted men are all conscripts.

madmike 0 Posted April 29, 2002 IM a lance corporal in the army cadet force which I have to do as part of my public services course at college but I will be joining the army in a few years time. If I join now at 17 I wont have the chance to get qualifications for when I leave so I would end up with a shitty job

As it isnt 'my' squad, I dont get to pick the name, so sometimes I feel like a lame ass wannabe running around with this tag on my name but, since Im proud of what we do in our squad (kick ass, take names, etc.) I put up with people asking me about it. So there ya go. Also, I cant say I am particularly interested in being a Marine, but the option is there.

USSoldier11B 0 Posted April 30, 2002 Wow, rank works alot different in other countries. I'm a specialist in the National Guard. National Guard differs from the Reserves in Constitutional terms. It is officially state militias that are supplied by the active Army but run by a state AG. Officers, Warrant Officers, and enlisted are all seperate. This is how U.S. Army rank works. Enlisted E-1: Private (recruit) E-2: Private (second class) E-3: Private Foirst Class E-4: Specialist NCO    Corporal (junior NCO, it's a lateral promotion) E-5: Sergeant E-6: Staff Sergeant E-7: Sergeant First Class E-8: Master Sergeant    First Sergeant (lateral promotion) E-9: Sergeant Major    Command Sergeant Major (lateral promotion)    Sergeant Major of the Army (unique rank) Warrant officers must attend a special school. They are masters of a technical skill and are usually drawn from enlisted ranks. Warrant officers are restricted to certain career fields. (i.e. SF, Aviation) Warrant Officers WO-1: Warrant Officer CWO-2: Chief Warrant Officer CWO-3: Chief Warrant Officer CWO-4: Chief Warrant Officer CWO-5: Chief Warrant Officer (unique rank) Officers are commissioned by the President through the USMA, OCS, or ROTC, and must have at least a bachelor's degree. Officers 0-1: 2nd Lieutentant 0-2: 1st Lieutenant 0-3: Captain 0-4: Major 0-5: Lieutenant Colonol 0-6: Colonol 0-7: Brigadier General 0-8: Major General 0-9: Lieutenant General 0-10: General 5 star (General of the Army) Same pay grade but rank in unique to one person. Only appointed during a time of official war. Hasn't been one since WWII. [Edit] In the U.S> Army only commisioned officers are referred to as "sir". NCO's are refered to as "corporal" or sergeant" up to 1SG who is referred as "First Sergeant", the same with "Segreant Major". Warrants are referred to as "Chief" or "Mr. -----"
