Jon Hye-Knudsen 10 Posted August 11, 2010 Hi I am trying out VR Commander (www.vrcommander.com) a small voice regocnition program, that lets you fire off keypresses, macros, text input etc. It seems to work really well and is easy to use and setup......but I'm having trouble with most commands, that are ment to chose one or more men in my squad. If I speak a command that I have mapped to one of the function-keys (F2, F3, F9 etc.) it sometimes seems to also fire off something like middle-mouse-button. ie it actually orders the man I'm chosing to move wherever my "order-cursor"/Crosshair is pointing. Sometimes it doesn't do it, and sometimes it only does it when I choose a second man. It seems to behave the same way if I use the key left of "1" or spacebar to choose the men, but doesn't seem to do it if I have made teams of my men. So saying "Team Red" to fire off the sequence 9-9-1, does not make them move. Anyone else tried VR commander? Anyone else have this problem? (and possibly a solution?) I am using a Danish Windows 7 Home Premium x64 and a danish keyboard. I have tried to change input-language in windows and to choose a different keyboard. It of course has an effect..... just not on the problem at hand. I see a lot are using Shoot or VAC, but they only seem to work with English Windows editions, since voice regocnition is disabled on most other languages. Say2Play just seems like a piece of junk... totally crazy user interface, and it rarely picks up on my commands.
Jon Hye-Knudsen 10 Posted August 17, 2010 So.... I tested a bit further. It seems to make a difference if I either press backspace or map that key to a command and speak it before chosing my men with the function-keys. But I also tested with Arma (Armed Assault)..... It doesn't seem to have the same problem as Arma II and OA. That is really too bad. It could be much faster and "real" to speak commands to your men, than to have to remember a host of number combinations.... and to have to push 3-10 keys to command your men to do something. Just looking away from the screen to make sure you press the right keys can get you killed. I would really be willing to invest som time in testing and solving this problem, but I don't know how to get any further now.
