VR Commander - men moving when chosen
Jon Hye-Knudsen replied to Jon Hye-Knudsen's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
So.... I tested a bit further. It seems to make a difference if I either press backspace or map that key to a command and speak it before chosing my men with the function-keys. But I also tested with Arma (Armed Assault)..... It doesn't seem to have the same problem as Arma II and OA. That is really too bad. It could be much faster and "real" to speak commands to your men, than to have to remember a host of number combinations.... and to have to push 3-10 keys to command your men to do something. Just looking away from the screen to make sure you press the right keys can get you killed. I would really be willing to invest som time in testing and solving this problem, but I don't know how to get any further now. -
VR Commander - men moving when chosen

Hi I am trying out VR Commander (www.vrcommander.com) a small voice regocnition program, that lets you fire off keypresses, macros, text input etc. It seems to work really well and is easy to use and setup......but I'm having trouble with most commands, that are ment to chose one or more men in my squad. If I speak a command that I have mapped to one of the function-keys (F2, F3, F9 etc.) it sometimes seems to also fire off something like middle-mouse-button. ie it actually orders the man I'm chosing to move wherever my "order-cursor"/Crosshair is pointing. Sometimes it doesn't do it, and sometimes it only does it when I choose a second man. It seems to behave the same way if I use the key left of "1" or spacebar to choose the men, but doesn't seem to do it if I have made teams of my men. So saying "Team Red" to fire off the sequence 9-9-1, does not make them move. Anyone else tried VR commander? Anyone else have this problem? (and possibly a solution?) I am using a Danish Windows 7 Home Premium x64 and a danish keyboard. I have tried to change input-language in windows and to choose a different keyboard. It of course has an effect..... just not on the problem at hand. I see a lot are using Shoot or VAC, but they only seem to work with English Windows editions, since voice regocnition is disabled on most other languages. Say2Play just seems like a piece of junk... totally crazy user interface, and it rarely picks up on my commands. -
New beta build 71548 up
Jon Hye-Knudsen replied to WillaCHilla's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
This BETA is definitely much bette than any previous version. No more stuttering. Really looking forward to getting my GTX275 running on my rig + a "real" patch with these kinds of improvements. Keep up the good work! Core i7 920 - 8 GB RAM - GTX260 -
hyperthreading i7 860 are you going to do something please??
Jon Hye-Knudsen replied to ericd's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Hi I don't get any difference with HDRPrecision=32 as opposed to 8 I don't get any differende with -cpuCount=4 Only thing that removes the stuttering and really makes the game playable is turning Hyperthreading off in the BIOS. The benchmark 1 mission gives me about 45-48 fps with HT=ON and around 51 with HT=OFF. The main experience though, is the micro stuttering that dissapears with HT=OFF. I have a Core i7 860 running Win 7 Home Premium x64 8 GB 1333 Mhz RAM Nvidia GTX 275 running 196.34 drivers The game is patched to 1.05 (no beta patches) I would really like for BIS to get the game working better with HT. Hi Drove a Humvee to Dressler and talked to him and Marny. Went and solved Olegich's problem. Went to the little town with the castle, talked to the guy by the town well. Then the bad farmer. Had a little bit of a firefight with some Chdzk, while climbing the hill to get the files in the castle. Left the Humvee and flew by helicopter to the quarry.... Have had 2 freezups looking down into the quarry trying to kill the guards and one freezup while in the chopper. The files are zipped here: http://rapidshare.de/files/48526983/arma2.zip.html Hope it helps. I am also still having trouble with 8GB of ram on my Win 7 RC1 x64 setup with a Nvidia GTX 275 with driver 191.07. The picture is totally screwed up and there are pretty much no textures. Just blocks. Only way to "solve" it is to msconfig my way down to 6-7 GB ram. This latest driver has made a good change to performance. I haven't measured it, but it sure feels smoother. Hope for more patches n such. It would be a real shame if I had to drop the game because it is too buggy. /Jon -
Hi I understand completely your wish to get a no-extras-as-cheap-as-possible game. The only thing I wonder, is why you keep calling the place you bought the CD key "The Company". Either you're following some forum rule that I forgot, about not mentioning other company names (sounds weird though)..... Or else you're actually worried, that you bought a pirated product, and in doing so got scammed. If you truely believe "the company" to be legit..... why not share their name with us, so we too can get som great games at rock-bottom prices.

How I solved my performance problem (8GB RAM)
Jon Hye-Knudsen posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Hi I had serious performance problems as soon as I got anywhere near a bigger town/City. That meant, that I could not really play the Campaign, since you are to catch Polotev in the City in one of the first missions. I had Framerates under 10. I had already tried video settings from really low, to really high with hardly any change. After I msconfig'ed my way out of my 8GB (reduced to 4GB) I no longer had any trouble..... well who would not like to turn up the visual quality. This did not give me stellar performance, but changed the game from unplayable, to quite playable indeed. Hope this can help someone, and that BIS will make a patch, that sorts this out.
