konyo 14 Posted August 2, 2010 (edited) Im trying to load a texture onto the UV Mapping for a little addon im making. Ive been following this guide, so far ive got up to where your selecting the model part in Oxygen 2 then press 'A' then 'B'. But I cant go any further because i get an error message saying Background Mapping Error - maybe invalid mapping region specified or no texture is selected Any reasons why its doing this? Also when ive the UV Mapping, and moving the texture so it meets the UV Map, how do i save it? Will it save automatically once i exit it? Or do i have to save it somewhere? Also how do i get all the cubes on the same UV Map? Thanks in advance. konyo Edited August 2, 2010 by konyo

konyo 14 Posted August 4, 2010 (edited) *snip*? Ive fixed that error, but im trying to texture but i cant. How do i get one texture on one side of the cube only? And how dose the UV Mapping work? Edited August 4, 2010 by konyo
STALKERGB 6 Posted August 4, 2010 (edited) In O2 there are a couple ways to manually UV something, if you have a cube, change to the select vertices mode (press v on keyboard or select it at the top somewhere). Then select the 4 points that make up one side of the cube, you can hold down control to select more than one if you cant select them all in one go. Look face-on to the face that has now been selected you will need to assign it a texture, click on the green triangle with an "i" to bring up the face properties, under texture find the texture you want to give the face. You Can Do This Step After You Have UV'd The Face If You Want To Create A Texture Once you have done that open up the UV editor and filter by the texture you just added to the face, click the planar mapping button to stick a version of the face into the UV editor, you can now move/resize/reshape that face as you see fit in the UV editor to stretch it to fit a texture or whatever you are trying to do. EDIT: Just read the first post :) When you close the UV editor the new UV position is saved, looking at the tutorial you linked I cant say I have ever used that method. I'll post some pics in a sec. -----Select one face by selecting the 4 points that make it up on each corner------------- -----Look FACE-ON at the face-------------- -----Choose planar mapping in UV editor---------------- Like I said there are tons of ways to do this in O2 (or it seems that way anyway). This is a very simple method for doing it, if you try this on anything that isn't a pretty simple object it becomes much harder. Hope it helps a bit. You my friend.. Are a Legend! Thankyou! It works great, finaly being able to face 1 side of the object without it facing the whole cube! Whooo! Thank you soo much :D Ill let you know if i get any more errors. EDIT : It keeps over riding faces with textures on it, with the textures im putting on the side of it. Would texture merging cause this? Edited August 4, 2010 by konyo

Would texture merging cause this? No probs matey, :) Could you explain the over-riding faces thing in a bit more detail? So the process you go through when it happens? So you mean that when you UV another side, the first side you UV'd changes as well?

Im sucha newb at this stuff lol. Thanks though stalkergb, you be a great help :) Edited August 4, 2010 by konyo
