vasmkd 12 Posted August 2, 2010 Ok this is just a suggestion if possible It seems alot of people are crashing when using "default" settings for video memory. I think a way this could be fixed is to add extra video memory settings because it seems the game doesn't always recognize video cards properly that have over 512MB of vram. Settings in game are: Very low Low Normal - for graphics cards with 256 MB memory High Very High - for graphics card with 512 MB memory Default - for graphic cards with over 512MB memory Maybe adding extra options like what i have suggested below might stop alot of ppl crashing to desktop etc ultra high -for graphic cards with 1024MB memory extreme - for graphic cards with 2048MB memory
Fox '09 14 Posted August 4, 2010 really? my GTX 275 used around 800 of its 876mb of ram, and my new GTX 470 uses almost all of its 1280mb, i don't see a point. Texture loading to video ram iirc isn't exact
Inkompetent 0 Posted August 4, 2010 The numbers mentioned by the OP are the numbers for ArmA1. Not for ArmA2/OA. The numbers I've been informed for ArmA2 and OA are: 256/320MB = LOW 512MB = NORMAL 896/1GB = HIGH 1-2GB = VHIGH or DEFAULT.
MavericK96 0 Posted August 4, 2010 Default *should* work properly with virtually any amount of VRAM, since it is supposed to detect the correct amount available and use that.
vasmkd 12 Posted August 5, 2010 Problem is my new GTX 460 1GB crashesto desktop on default in less than 10 seconds, doesn't recognise the right memory or something with latest nvidia drivers or previous ones. Seems ok on very high which i thought was 512MB My previous 8800GT 512MB card played best on very high
mcarma 19 Posted August 6, 2010 It would be nice to have an option/switch to push video memory into system memory (FSX can do this). Then people with a lot of system memory could use it.
