Mack. 59 Posted July 30, 2010 I’ve just gone through all the highest priority bugs on the bug tracker. They are: 3168 Immediate AI with handgun active gets stuck in "crouched" position (Gets stuck in crouch with no weapons) 2353 Immediate Disabled vehicle AI targeting and spotting when player is effective commander in cargo 3919 Urgent Helicopters loading/unloading mess 2733 Urgent AI always turned out when player is effective commander in cargo 1967 Urgent Chopper boarding issue with AI With the exception of 1967 (which appears to be fixed) they all have following in common: 1) They are all AI bugs. 2) They have been reported at least 11 months ago. 3) They have all been classed as Immediate or Urgent for at least 9 months. 4) They are all easily and consistently reproducible. 5) They are all still in the latest beta 72291. I have to voice my frustrations. In the past 11 months we have had plenty of bug fixes and new content; however the highest priority bugs have not been fixed. In effect almost a complete new game Operation Arrow head has been developed and released. I have brought Operation Arrowhead to play the much talked about new vehicle missions but due to bug 2353 the player is required to spoon feed the gunner every target in addition to commanding the entire convoy. The British Armed Forces DLC looks amazing. However it’s also slightly pointless because if you want the AI to use the choppers mission designers have to baby sit the chopper to make sure no one’s shoots at it, otherwise it will get stuck. Arma 2 is an incredible game. I do understand as well it does not have the sales and resources of a title like MW2. However please treat these bugs with the assigned priority. MavericK96 0 Posted July 30, 2010 This kind of sounds like a rant, but I do agree with you. Highest priority issues should ideally be fixed first.
sbsmac 0 Posted July 30, 2010 The priority field in CIT doesn't actually have any meaning. If you see something as 'high priority' it just means that the submitter thought it was important, not that BIS consider it to be high-priority.
Dwarden 1125 Posted July 30, 2010 most items on priority list are mainly used set by me but it not reflect the possibility of fix or priority for others staff in the team ... (some things aren't fixable or easy to fix due to design decision) what You shall look on is list of what already got fixed :) also some of the AI copter issues are already fixed in beta build and some are being worked on... Mack. 59 Posted August 1, 2010 Maverick96: Reading it back I can see what you mean. I didn’t mean it as a rant. I’ve been very careful in checking everything before I posted to make sure it was accurate and I believe fair. I went through the all the Immediate and Urgent bugs to make sure they were still in the game, I also discovered one that appears to be fixed (1967) and another that appears to be partially fixed (3168.) This did take some time. Sbsmac: I see what you mean however in the bug tracker instructions it does say the priority should only be set by BIS. It does also say “It has little meaning in general†making it somewhat pointless. I will return to this point. Dwarden: Firstly thank you for taking the time to read and reply to my post. It is appreciated. “most items on priority list are mainly used set by me but it not reflect the possibility of fix or priority for others staff in the team ...†As you said, and as I have seen when watching the bug tracker the priority is usually set by BIS (yourself.) To me it doesn’t make any sense: the priority is set by BIS but doesn’t actually mean anything. Surely it would make sense if it did? “some things aren't fixable or easy to fix due to design decision†The obvious question is are these bugs fixable? If not then this is a pointless discussion. I guess these bugs are difficult to fix and probably require you to trawl through many lines of code to find the one loop that gets stuck or something similar however they would make a massive difference to the game. If you just fixed 2353 and 2733 then it suddenly using vehicles with AI becomes far easier. If you fix just the unable to land after being shot at part of 3919 then at least the other parts of this bug can be scripted around reasonably easily. I’m sure someone will remake the village attack scene from Apocalypse Now if you do. On a side note I was looking around the bug tracker and see it’s possible to report via WER using non beta patches. I had a look at the web site and it has 2 quotes: Fixing 20 percent of the top-reported bugs can solve 80 percent of customer issues. Addressing 1 percent of the bugs would address 50 percent of the customer issues. as I said just fixing 2353 and 2733 would make a huge difference. “what You shall look on is list of what already got fixed †Credit where credits due, a lot has been fixed. “also some of the AI copter issues are already fixed in beta build and some are being worked on...†I look forward to trying out the fixes. Thanks again for your reply.
