Ddave_73 10 Posted July 29, 2010 I am going to pick up an Arma 2 server today and would like some recommendations as to where I should get it hosted. I see some places that seam extremely expensive and a few that are not too bad, like about £15 a month for 10 or 12 slots. Can anyone suggest some decent hosts where I can rent an Arma 2 server from that wont break the bank, don't really wanna spend more than £15 a month and its only for myself and a handful of my friends who have bought the game so no less than 10 slots would be fine, branded or de-branded does not matter nor does getting free or discount ventrilo or teamspeak servers. An American company that has servers in Europe would be fine too but of course I don't want my server hosted in America due to ping to the uk. Many thanks :) this place seams pretty good in terms of price but I don't have any experiences with this company, what do you think ? http://www.gamingdeluxe.co.uk/game-servers/Arma_2_operation_arrowhead.html
ck-claw 1 Posted July 29, 2010 Been with Alpha-Networks for a few weeks now and can't complain! :D 12 slots for under a tenner! Thats for CO too!
Ddave_73 10 Posted July 29, 2010 I have combined operations myself but I only see OA for rentall ? Do I just get an OA server and I can run Combined opps on it ? Sorry but this is my first Arma 2 server so any extra information would be superb, thanks for the suggestion :) Looks good..
ck-claw 1 Posted July 29, 2010 When i bought it -thought it was just for OA but it does come as CO! In the c-panel all Arma2 addons/islands etc are intsalled! If in doubt just raise a ticket to clarify! :)
Tankbuster 1746 Posted July 29, 2010 I'm using http://ukgame.com/ They are pretty good for a small server and quite cheap. The guy who runs it is, I think, a closet fan of the series - he always knows about this game and I helped him config the OA servers.
Ddave_73 10 Posted July 29, 2010 This server is primarily just for me and my brother who are both brand new to the arma series and want to hone our multiplayer "skills" (if you can call them that lol) and this company seams to be perfect. I have used cpanel before so I expect I should be fairly familiar with that. Many thanks, think I will just go ahead and grab a server from these guys. Cheers for the tip :)
ck-claw 1 Posted July 29, 2010 Np's- Can ya mention 'Taxman' as he's after some discount! :D He got me on to em! @Tankbuster - yeah there's amra2 players at Alpha, think this always helps at server companies! I've used Multiplay.com for yrs for other games and they dont do any arma servers -they say they just cant get em config'd correctly! :(
Ddave_73 10 Posted July 29, 2010 I have a discount code for Alpha and its a recurring discount code but when I enter it during checkout it does not take any money off the bill ? Does the recurring discount mean if I decide to stay with Alpha I will get the discount on the next billing cycle ? Tried calling them but no joy.
