tonedog12 2 Posted July 27, 2010 hi, i found this following piece of info from a guide to improving gaming performance. Blazing Performance! If you want to take it a step further, if you buy an additional hard drive, you can, if you are running Windows XP Professional, and with a little work and reconfiguring set-up dynamic disks with striping (equivalent to a RAID 0 configuration) and basically double your hard drive access speed by taking advantage of NTFS striping function where data is stored across two drives. The performance boost is tremendous – literally 200%. Once you’ve experienced the performance boost gained by striping you will never want to go back to a single drive “basic†disk system. im runnin win 7 64 bit and have a 2nd hard drive installed which has xp pro on it. does anyone here have such a configuration? if so, how is it done? cheers
Joseph Archer 10 Posted July 27, 2010 (edited) A small capacity SSD with 7 and arma2 installed on it would do a better job than setting a RAID across two hard drive discs. If you are a pursuing a RAID installation across your existing drives then I would have thought the RAID config that increases read/write speeds, rather than capacity, would be more effective for improving performance in game. Increasing hard drive access increases arma2 performance in terms of load speeds for the game more than frame rate performance in game. Although terrain loading is improved also. Perhaps invest in CPU/GPU with the cash? Edited July 27, 2010 by o0Jedi0o
