So it is up to somebody else to do all the work just so YOU can play a game? That sounds a little like the A3L team, except substitute "play" with "sell".

It doesn't matter that you do not care. It matters that others do care. You are acting like a victim. Please take a moment and consider this a little more sensibly, a little less self centred, and give a thought to who the actual victims are.

We should just drop it all, never mind how long all the mod authors spent developing their content to have it used illegally and without permission. I mean, he spent ages on the application after all.
  4. Yeah, not very obvious is it? It used to be that you could swap between gamespy and steam lists there instead. Also very non obvious.

In fact, isn't that the point exactly?
  6. I switched the server browser mode from INTERNET to LAN to see it.
  7. Oh right, nice one. I didn't bother with ports, I just connected via the LAN mechanism so it would have gone via local ip and bypassed the WAN. Glad you it it sorted. I didn't realise it was ports you were having trouble with, I thought the server was t starting properly.

I achieved similar by defining a custom Display in my addon config and then showed it on screen using: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/cutRsc It was my first attempt at scripting and I learned loads from Killzone Kid's GUI Tutorial (easy to google for). It's pretty straight forward once you understand the basic principle. Depending on your particular approach, it might be easier to use something like the below to show the image: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Structured_Text

It's like I said before. If all these A3L players are happily paying in their blissful ignorance, there is nothing that we ourselves can do beyond boycotting the game mode and raising awareness. Neither of which will yield an immediate or even short term result. The only presence here with any real weight or power on the matter is BI. And whether or not they are actually doing anything to follow up this alleged breach of EULA - who knows. As for mod devs, they probably have decent standing to raise this in a legal manner but let's face it, who wants to pay for the legal costs. As always, the big bad wolf wins by default simply due to a larger bucket of money. And that's really frustrating given that they don't even have the maturity, cool-headedness or even a solid basis of truth with which to post reasonable and clear explanations to our concerns, and end either being evasive, rude, or contradicting and attempting to cover up their previous statements. Shame about all the ignorant sheep that paid for that bucket of money.
  10. I've done this myself for testing my addons and keys. It's not too tricky. I'm not using the launcher, just cfg files and some shortcuts. Have you created a dedicated user profile for the server to run with? I'll send you some details on my setup when I'm back at my pc tomorrow if you don't get it sorted by then.

I'm sorry Caiden, I don't understand what you mean.

Forgive me, I may have misinterpreted the other thread, now locked. Is mbaxter a colleague of yours?
  14. I'd assume so, but I also assumed the game mode was meant for a hosted scenario. The db approach would probably give you beat performance and scalability long term, but perhaps you can design your approach so that you can use a simpler interim method while being able to switch to db mechanism easily in future without many changes.

Hi Caiden So, are saying that Tonic didn't create the Life code on which your mode is based, or are you saying its ok for you to ignore licenses just because "they did it first"? Have all those members who have "donated" for gold or higher status to gain access in the past been refunded the $30 now that you are updating your policies?
  16. Take a look here https://github.com/michail-nikolaev/task-force-arma-3-radio/wiki/API:-Variables (via the TFAR website)
  17. Are the database options too complex? I've not looked at them myself.
  18. Yeah skill based is fair enough but it still might ruin game mode for others. Sounds like you definitely need some form of persistence. I'll be watching this thread to see what happens.
  19. I messed with them a while back. Don't remember 100% off hand but the animationPhase responsible for popping up and down is "terc", and yes they do have an alive state and damage values too.

Right, ignore what I said above - I'm planning on releasing an update in the coming week or so. Does anybody have any feature suggestions/requests that I might be able to squeeze into the new version? Thanks.
  21. If it works like a client, and I don't see why not, then it should get written to the profile .vars file. When setting up a dedi server, you configure the profile folder, so there's gotta be a reason. Wouldn't take much to test it, I guess. @Iceman77: do you have the requirement to persist scores across sessions at all? If it's a round based game mode then perhaps our discussion is moot.

It's their server but actually they can't do whatever they want. Arma 3 Eula states they cannot do what they are doing. The mod licenses state they cannot do what they are doing. I own my house, and in my house i make the rules. But that doesn't give me the right to steal your tv and use it, just because I'm watching it at my house. Neither does it make me exempt from adhering to tv license laws, just because I'm watchin tv in my own house.
  23. I guess you could do that but, 1. The data would be lost across restarts 2. When you say 'add the saved score' I assume you mean initialise the player's score from the data stored by the server, and not add the player profile score to the server saved score What happens on a dedicated server when you saveProfileNamespace? That might be a simple option for persisting score data when the server session ends or restarts, but could possibly lead to slower operations at some points if the profile file gets too big. I'm a noob, so take all this with a pinch of salt.
