  1. Not sure where people get this idea from but its been stated numerous times that only 2-3 staff are working on Zeus.... The rest are busy with other A3 related things.

Haven't seen any official update since Adapt was launched and it I dont think it had "performance" increase notes. Kinda strange since Adapt campaign is so buggy that they havent even released a hotfix for it.

Its months and months since I saw any specific performance optimalization notes. Okey, I don't care to study the patch note, all I need to do is to start up the a mission Altis on AUTO-DETECT setttings, turn my mouse and after 5 seconds I can tell if its still crap or playable.

  2. This is a game where its based on HP system. Emptying a full magazine of assault rifle on a leg wouldn't kill one in real life. There would be only pain and shock but in ArmA you can get killed by getting shot at hands or feet. I would play only ArmA above all FPS if they could just implement body parts system.

And people keep telling me that ARMA is so realistic...

  3. @ arotished : Altis Life "missions" and servers are known to pull hard on PCs. Whatever are the problems with Arma3 Multi-player management, it's not BIS responsibility if Altis Life "missions" are badly optimized, too often "tweaked" by amateurs and played on makeshift servers.

I am playing Arma3 with a "i3-4130/HD 7770/8 Go/256Go SSD" rig on "High" with Visibility=2 000m @20/35 FPS on Altis in Coop on our Clan server. Of course, playing a PvP game I am getting over 35 FPS. The game looks great and I enjoy it. Nemo auditur propriam turpitudinem allegans.

I will never understand people that can enjoy playing a FPS game with 20fps, but hey, we are difference :)

  4. notebookcheck is actually wrong, i5 4200U can run on 2.44 Ghz and not 2.3 Ghz with 2 cores under load, not sure how much of a difference that would make. Anyway, I'll buy Arma 3 and see how It goes, even I'm not able to run It decently on my laptop It will work on my desktop.

ARMA3 runs on almost every laptop, dont even need to have a duel core as they developer dont know how to support it mulit CPU/GPU.

But, it really comes down to what you feel is decent.

I have a laptop with a 3,8Ghz i7, 680M SLi, SSD and 32GB and in order to get above 30FPS on Altis Life I need to put every setting on Standard and disable every AA option along with put 1000meters view distance. This makes the game look like Operation Flashpoint again and I need to control myself not to get angry due to the "lag" when I move my mouse.

I also have a desktop with a 4,5Ghz i7, 780Ti SLi, SSD and 32GB and in order to get above 40FPS in Altis Life on this computer, I need to reduce the view distance to 1500meters, the rest I have on Ultra BUT, I still get noticeable FPS drops with more then 2 things happens at once.

Overall, my hardware is not good enough to run the game decent for me.

  5. This game must be the only game that you really need to dig to the center of earth to find any FPS above 30.

    I have:

    4770K @ 4,5GHz

Samsong 840 Pro SSD in RAID0

    Nvidia GTX780Ti in SLi.

    32GB, 2400mhz CL9 RAM

aaaaaannnnndddddd the FPS is this game is still the worse FPS I have EVER played....I cant even turn my mouse before I get irritated because of the lag. I need to disable every settings in the AA section and go all the way down to 1000meters viewdistance along with Standard setting on many options in order to get close to 60FPS ingame (and still I get severe FPS drops in town) which say is a minimum to play a game without getting sick.

Bohemia, we are in 2014.....people actually have multi CPU/GPU hardware now....

  6. They are done/finished with improving the game, they hide behind "engine limitation" bullshit. The people at Bohemia are used to console with the 30FPS limit and thinks everything above 30FPS is totaly useless and not needed at all.

Bohemia are now focusing on making the game like the old Black and White game, Zeus is the first stop.

  7. Kinda agree, the ARMA series have moved very slowly the past 13 years and mostly due to the lack of optimization, strange/stupid game mechanic and dumb AI. Of course you can justify the AI by saying that ARMA is a MP game but still you have the two other factors which makes the game feel very unfinished.

  8. Hi fellas just built this setup and I was wondering if it will run Arma 2 and Arma 3?

No! But many people will say yes since they think running a game around 30FPS is just fine....

  9. I’m not sure actually! I remember ten years ago when anti-aliasing started appearing in games and back then it meant smooth image and MASSIVE slowdowns. However nowadays there are many different modes of anti-aliasing though and some are better than others. In ARMA3 I can turn FSAA up to x2 or x4 with no slowdown what so ever and not until I turn it to x8 will I start noticing any slowdowns (if I remember correctly). I think everyone should experiment on their own with anti-aliasing. Object distance definitely makes a big difference, view distance less so. Smoke causes massive slowdowns however unfortunately using the lower settings doesn’t make it one bit better.

FSAA have almost no effect for me, maybe 4-5 FPS from NONE to X8. Everything comes down to view distance. At 500meters draw/object distance the game runs okey....but you cant play with 500meters.

  10. well played sir, well played. then again my arma runs smooth without stutter at 45-70+ fps multiplayer, so you enjoy dem benchmark scores ;D seriously though look into stuff like anti virus exceptions, eset had some problems with arma earlier for example, would be nice to know what system you play on too :D

i got 3145 points in extreme hd btw, might want to see if it runs better without sli/xfire as well, longshot though i suppose

and to the dude in the other post,

with my old 8350@ 4.8ghz i could play multiplayer fairly well with low object and terrain detail, 1k/800/100 view distances, would say it ran around 35fps average in beta multiplayer stratis, tweaks might have been done though not sure :D doubt you'll see any 50 fps multiplayer numbers from that cpu though :/

singelplayer should run way better though so might be some software problems, updated drivers etc?

also if that's a singel 660 it will be too slow for that resolution + aa and very high texture settings most likely

I really dont get it, I cant even get 80 FPS if I lower every setting in this stupid game :-(

  11. stutter, not shutter, also that means your pc is too slow, sorry to say :D

I know its slow, only get 5400points in Valley 1.0 Extreme HD and 10000points in Fire Strike Extreme HD, probably not even close to your score :P What do you get in these tests again?

I use these settings right now, but it does not matter what I put them on, it gives only 6-8 fps if I put them further down .. And if I make a autodetect, then it set it all to Ultra ..

To high settings, try lowering your view distance to minimum, then you might be able to get 40-50FPS :)
