so i've googled this in every wording i can think of to no avail, i'm trying to set up a mission where the enemy are occupying a base, and since AI are too stupid to use buildings properly i have to use this code copytoclipboard format ["this setDir %1 this setPos %2", getDir player, getPosATL player]; to set the AIs position, but i've run into a problem, that i expected. the AI are so "formation oriented" that they immediatly run to their CO's side the minute the mission starts, which is exactly where i don't want them. i want them to hold the deffensive positions that I set. anyone know what i can add to the Initialization of the unit to make it hold it's position no matter what? -

yeah, the guys i want to stay still are staying still, but the patrols keep wandering off when the shooting starts. -

another question, the patroling forces around the compound keep leaving and wandering off as soon as the battle starts. i want them to guard the compound, and never leave it. suggestions? -

Group functions and squad movement get a little clunky if you do more than eight, I'm still tinkering around with it, but my 16 man squads have been giving me trouble. I'm going for an all out assault. D-Day style, I'm going to get lag no matter what. -
ARMA 3 Addon Request Thread

Basically my favorite assault rifle is the G36K. Image:http://static2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20101226015556/deadliestfiction/images/2/22/G36K.jpg (217 kB) aaaaaand there aren't a lot of games that let me use it in that form, they always deck it out in picatinny and omit the Integrated scope, or just go with the G36C variant. since I don't like these I figured i'd take a shot in the dark and make it a challenge. Whoever can make me a fully functioning G36K, like the one pictured, with good sounds, wins bragging rights. now obviously this prize is worth next to nothing, if not worth nothing at all, but i really don't have anything else to offer. If i did it would be on the table. So, this is really more of a request than anything. However, since i'm something of a gun nut, and spend my leisure time reading up on real world firearms, (or at the range when i can afford ammo,) and since i'm typically super critical of all weapon mods, and have a meticulous attention to detail regarding guns in games. (my gripe list is extensive, i should really write it all down at some point) anyway, the reason i call it a challenge is because it'll take something really high quality to make me truly happy, and not just content. So, if any modders have finished their project and are looking for something to do, and feel like making a gun nut really, really happy. take up the challenge, and subject yourself to my microscope. P.S. Do not tell me to download the All-In-Arma Pack, as I will probably never, ever download that, unless it's content were to work flawlessly along side the ARMA3 content, which will probably never happen, and don't tell me to go back to Arma2OA, I like making my own missions (more or less just tinkering with the editor, not on the level of exporting as of yet), and Arma3's editor is about 100 times more user friendly than arma2's. Looks nice, Ejection port is on the right side for a change. however, you need to post class names. and you should probably link to the other packs that are needed. -

i knew the word "stop" was in the command somewhere....someone mentioned it when i asked about the setting position script. as for grouping, i'd leave them all de-grouped if i could, but it seems ARMA likes it best if they are in squads. my game runs smoother if 80 units are in 10 squads of 8 rather than all on their own. -
the only real problem with this is that i don't have an industrial strength fan hooked up to my computer, so i can't actually feel the wind. It is a real brilliant idea don't get me wrong, but with out a way to gauge the wind quickly, i think it's something that would become very irritating very quickly. It looks like you've done good work, and i don't doubt it's realistic, but you might want to consider adding something to the HUD that gives approximations as to speed and direction, to simulate feeling the wind.

that we are holding in our right hand.....because we like hot metal being thrown into our faces. this work is done very lazily, it's a bunch of simple ports, with little to no effort being put into them, would not recommend downloading, and to the other mod authors out there, don't let the fact that this guy has done them deter you from doing it, you can probably do a much better job. -

Ejection Port. I don't mean to be a troll, I'm not trying to be a troll, but I would use these if the ejection port was on the correct side. you release a lot of these, and from the screen shots they look decent. but for every single assault rifle you have made, the ejection port has been on the wrong side of the gun. I find this really Irritating. I don't know much about modeling, i don't know what resources you're using, but i find myself asking "why is it always wrong?" -
dear god, what have I started? okay, lemme put in my 2 cents, (worth about .1 cent in this economy) . the 5.56X45mm cartridge is a powerful caliber, but week when compared to pretty much any 7.62 round. the key is that it's a light round that you can carry more of, and it's very accurate, slightly under or on par with 7.62X51mm (common light sniper round, also used in firearms like the H&K G3, FN FAL, M14, etc, most of which only hold 20 rounds in the magazine). it is typically more accurate than the 7.62X39mm round (or rather the AK variants that use them, AKs can be accurate if they are well built). the round, when it hits a soft target, typically tumbles a bit upon entering flesh. the main complaint about the 5.56 round is that it lacks Knock down power, not Stopping power. I.E. Target will die, might be dead when the round hits them, but when they are hit the round lacks the mass to immediatly knock them over. in a combat scenario this is undesirable because at range you want a visual indicator that the target is out of the fight as soon as they are out of the fight, that is, as soon as they are hit. very few people can survive one hit from a 5.56 to the chest, let alone two. this is assuming of course that the target's chest is unprotected this is not the case with Arma3's OPFOR who are typically carrying gear in chest rigs, so they can survive more than a couple shots to the torso because they are protected. as for the drug and religious zealots thing, there are cases where non-immediatly-fatal wounded have continued their attack on our troops because they are overdosing on hate and/or drugs. i must leave for a prior engagement now, so if i was unclear or outright wrong on anything feel free to let me know.

Most of the hostiles we run into these days are either on drugs or religious zealots with no sense of self preservation. i use this in conjunction with "Fire Fight Improvement System" and turn off "Advanced armor" in the game difficulty settings, it'll drop them in one shot, but they'll get back up.

Is there a class list for this mod? I like making custom units for my missions and your outfits look nice, especially for the types of groups that i like to make....and there's such a lack of stuff of the superior quality I'm looking for. -

would love to assign this to myself and some AI squad mates and deal with some OPFOR old school but there are a couple problems with that. 1) the missing texture is killing my eyes (not a big deal) 2) ammo weighs too much (same as a 30 round magazine, should weigh less if possible) (a bit annoying) 3) i can't find the class name in your documentation anywhere........(I might just be missing it) BTW....the firing sound is fine in my book, sounds exactly like it should, so keep it as close to that as possible. if anything the ping should be duller, it's a bit too high pitched and clean like a tuning fork, it actually sounds a bit like someone dropping a piece of metal on cement. P.S. as for the reload, this missing clip on the last shot is not as big of a deal as the reload animation, which should be done first after you get your texture problem sorted out, it should be 2/3rds what it is now, as the "magazine" doesn't have to be "removed". -
been a huge fan of yours since i started modding Arma2. Love this mod, have my entire AI squad outfitted with nothing but your weapons (except the Machinegunner) are you going to be doing the Submachine guns again? I loved your P90 in Arma2 and would love to use it again, especially since I can assign AI to take up positions in houses, and enemy AI occasionally wander indoors.
