so since the big distinction is that this is an "expansion" and not a DLC I wonder if BIS is still going to do the same thing they did with dlcs where some of it is integrated into the main game for everyone and some of it is behind a paywall. -

I have a very strange problem that came up yesterday. I was playing the 'Alive Insurgency Revived' mission with a friend and we quit out and restarted it so someone else could join. after we did that, every mission that uses ALIVE now refuses to load. the game didn't get updated, nor did any of my mods. nothing has changed but ALIVE is now just broken for me and for my friends for no reason. it's even broken on my the clients of my friends somehow. I tried verifying the game and reinstalling ALIVE but it still doesn't work. I don't understand how this is possible to be honest. during the same session where ALIVE worked it just suddenly stopped and now a day later it still doesn't work. -
this mod claims to increase the damage of weapons and make body armour a bit more realistic but when I install it it takes about 9 hits to the body with a 7.62 rifle to kill an enemy. is this intentional?

after taking a break from arma for a couple months, ALIVE will no longer run on my dedicated server. I've updated it, I've double checked and double checked again that I have no spelling errors in my command line, I've made new missions as well as trying some of the sample missions available. it works fine on a local server, but on a dedicated it just kicks me back to the mission list whenever I choose any mission that has alive enabled. what am I missing here edit: I figured out it was actually a corrupt update to the game that was causing the problem. -

because that's what bohemia is already doing and it's the reason arma 3 is a complete disaster and dying fast. bohemia either doesn't have the time, talent or staff to properly support modern hardware with the engine they currently have. when you try to make one of the most technically advanced games out there and your game doesn't utilize hardware any better than a title from 2003 would then you're going to have massive problems, which arma 3 does. -

apologies if this has already been discussed, but I can't seem to get the jsrs part of this working. all the weapons and vehicles are completely silent with a handful of exceptions. I've installed the sound hotfix and every other part of this pack works, and of course I have jsrs+CBA installed and jsrs works fine on vanilla content. does anyone know why this would be happening? -

Getting a server to the Steam server browser?

so, gamespy shutting down has created a problem for me that it doesn't appear anyone else has. my server shows up on the steam list, but connecting to it yields a ''connecting failed" message. when I type my public ip via remote connection, nothing shows up. when I type my local IP, it shows up and I can connect without issue. my friends can't connect through the steam list, remote or through the ''join game'' steam function. connecting my PC directly to my modem negates this problem, but this is not a viable fix for me. I've tried: forwarding every possible port you can imagine disabling firewall completely installing and using the steamcmd version of the server running just the vanilla server.exe with no config or password or anything running the server as admin adding the steam ports to the serverconfig -
I recently started using mods and yesterday I ran into an issue where a friend couldn't join my server. I tried removing the launch parameters that were enabling mods on the server and when I do that I just get an app hang and the server never launches. if I put the mod commands back in it launches fine. so while trying to figure out what was causing this I figured I'd try joining my own server with all my mods disabled, I was able to join but the mods were still active on my client despite disabling them. when I went to the expansions screen I got this: so despite removing the commands that were enabling the mods, they were still there. so I tried completely deleting all my mods from the game's directory. this is where it gets really weird. I've deleted literally every mod I had, removed all the keys, user configs etc. and the mods are not only still there in the expansions menu, but they're fully functional. there are no mods in the game directory nor do I have any launch parameters set, and yet somehow the game is able to load completely custom weapon packs, weapon resting, ACRE and CBA. I don't have any mods in the Addons folder either. how is the game doing this?

that's very strange, because for me it makes zero difference whether someone has the mod or not. -

so after a bit more research I found out that the problem isn't only this mod. for some reason the game was forcing parts of BWmod to be active even though I uninstalled it, and I've now discovered that the the problem was a conflict between BWmod and this. -

I tried both of those already. I also tried only having this mod enabled to make sure it wasn't a conflict between other mods. it doesn't make any sense to me either, but it's happening. -

sorry if this has been covered already, but I'm having serious problems with this mod. somehow, for some reason, this mod makes it so that I can't hear other players firing unless it's a specific firemode. for example, I can't hear single fire on any MX rifles, but I can hear full auto. I can't hear burst on RH's M4 pack but I can hear semi and full etc. I managed to fix this about a month ago by completely removing the mod and deleting all my configs then reinstalling the mod, but now it broke itself again without me actually changing anything and I can't get it to work this time. -
are you sure your version is up to date? because the last update completely overhauled the sounds of nearly everything and they sound flawless now.

alduric, why don't you release standalone patches for this? a lot of people have limited bandwidth. can you tell me which files actually got updated?

I don't fully understand this ''logistics'' system. I don't see it anywhere in game and as far as I can tell there's no explanation on how to actually use it. also I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like this but when I run this mission the AI have no voices. -
utilizing more cores isn't just writing a line of code that tells the game to use more. API overhead makes those extra cores impossible to use. 32 bit applications (such as arma 3) aren't capable of using enough memory to use 8 cores or even fully utilize 4 cores for that matter. it's AMD who made the mistake of thinking that adding more cores is a logical way to compete with hardware that is just plain better. I don't like intel and I don't like that I have to use intel hardware but as long as AMD continues to ignore the real issues intel is going to continue having a monopoly on the CPU market.

yeah, upgrading to that cpu was a big mistake. I went from an FX-8150 to an I7 4771 and my performance is flawless now. you should be able to get a solid 60 FPS on some parts of altis if you have the right settings but as far as I know amd doesn't have any CPU that'll give you stable performance in the big towns.

so after many hours of trial and error I successfully converted my mission to task scripts as grimes suggested, and I figured my results and methods might be helpful to people who don't have much/any experience using scripts.
