  1. Yeah, adding markers with the function doesn't work atm it seems. I can use objects just fine though. I was hoping for a couple of things; That I could use markers & that if I used an ellipse or rectangle, the respawn position would be randomly within the marker instead of the direct center. Kind of how the traditional base respawn works if you used said marker type(s). At any rate, it's not too big of a deal. Corresponding names would be nice though instead of the grid coordinates. ---------- Post added at 22:36 ---------- Previous post was at 22:20 ---------- Is there anyway to open the gear selection & spawn position dialog without respawning? I want to use the BI system. I could make my own dialog for respawn and weapon selection (as I'm really keen on making dialogs) or even use someone elses, but, may I dare say I actually like the BI respawntemplates.
  2. Has anyone else noticed how anything to do with distance is acting wonky? ie; your team member calls out a unit @ 800m away, but in reality said unit is 50m away. The first time I noticed this I thought the Ai must have detected a unit that far away, which isn't unusual for the ai to do. But then it kept happening every time I would get into a CQB situation. I've played thousands of hours since 2002 aswell, so how the ai act is second nature to me. After noticing & totally forgetting about this, sometime later I went to a BE CTI server & I noticed the distance calculations on Benny's dialog (UI) for team structures (heavy factory etc etc) were way off aswell. Like I would order a quadbike from the only light factory that's @ "2826 meters". When really I'm standing right infront of the factory & my quad spawns. I realize BEwarfare is a user made mission & that some code may need fixing. However, the two experiences went hand n' hand for me. So I don't think it's exclusive to Benny's mission.
  3. Did they remove the "objects" selection under side empty? All I have are the specific object pools. ie; military objects, furniture... etc etc. Or did they consolidate what was in "objects" to the specific object pools?

    "Objects"

Nothing particular. I just realized I don't have the objects option any longer.
  5. Yeah... it isn't a simulator. Blackshark is a simulator. Steelbeast pro is a simulator. Arma is not a simulator. Arma is a "realistic" sandbox game. How many times do the mods here & BI themselves have to tell people it isn't a simulator? Maybe if Maruk himself came into this thread and told you that Arma wasn't a simulator, then you guys would get the picture? The armor & aircraft in the Arma games especially, are NOT even close to being that of a simulation. It's laughable in that regard.

    Is the game dumbed down?

You may aswell not use a weapon with a grenade launcher. Since we can throw the grenades like 100mph in an insta second Lol.
  7. David77

    Boehmia, be reasonable, and honest.

    Exactly.

    Is the game dumbed down?

Yeah the grenade throw is atrocious. THAT IS just like COD or BF. I did rationalize the grenades like this; It's 2035 - The grenades are super light weight and can be thrown like baseballs.
  9. While I can agree with alot of what you've said, if your friends could run Arma2 they can run Arma3. The game hardly makes use of even older GPUs. It's processor dependent. Older, Low-mid range, super cheap CPUs, such as an i5 2500 work just aswell, if not better than some higher end cpus for the game.
  10. Yes the irony is killing me. It isn't and never was a simulator. Have you actually ever played a simulator? Maybe something like blackshark or steel beast? It isn't a simulator. OFP / Arma aren't simulators.
  11. Idk about a total waste of time. But, every classname or anything to do with any object can be had in the cfg viewer, which is more accessible than ever now. 1 click away. Also, placeable items / units show you the classname. Still though, if you like making web sites, then why not?

    DAC Arma 3

Anyone mind sharing an error free, working template of DAC for A3?
  13. The editor is more convenient than ever now. Also, name one other large scale, all out war game without scripted AI? These aren't COD or BF AI. These essentially have their own brain. But wait... No other "realistic" sand box franchise of this scale even exists. Let alone do a better job (as a whole) than this franchise has over the years. Not to mention the modding support. What maps have you been playing? There are several good servers hosting cti, c&h & coops.

    No Women=Disturbing

What's even more disturbing is all of this concern with women in the virtual world of Arma3.
  15. Thanks for the laugh OP. (Not sarcasm) I really enjoyed the part about snakes opening doors.

    Vehicle Damage

With light transports (IE; Ifrit), if I run into / through a small, flemsy picket type fence, it cuts a tire down & destroys the motor. Yet I can run into and uproot a large tree with no problems. This is bassackwards. Also, if you're boogying along & catch a little air, chances are when you land you're going to ruin a wheel & tire. I mean... I'm not expecting to jump my vehicle off of a cliff and be all dandy. But getting 3-4 foot of air isn't a big deal. Especially since it's 2035. With the cush suspensions & nearly indestructible wheels & tires. Tires that (even now in 2013) are self healing & self inflating to boot. Not to mention suspension components for military vehicles in 2035 would at minimum, be using metals such as titanium (or even beryllium). Point is... A knee high flemsy fence shouldn't totally own my transport vehicle.
  17. It's not a military simulator. The series never has been. Aside from that ignorance, yes it would be nice if you could use your secondary weapon slot to carry another primary weapon, instead of a launcher.

    i want the beta back

Terrible analogy. As you've said, you already bought the game. Guess what? When the game gets polished... you'll be all set then wont you?
  19. David77

    Boehmia, be reasonable, and honest.

I can't argue with the OP. But first... It's a no brainer that most long time BI community members are going to grab the game. Be it 30$ or 60$. They realize what they're getting for the most part. They realize they are getting a huge sandbox game that will take time to mature. They realize that there hasn't been any good official campaigns since OFP (CWC, Redhammer, resistance). This is nothing new. That said, I do agree it's not right to charge ignorant people 60$. New people are expecting a campaign, MP servers with good pvp, a large pool of vehicles & weapons, a tutorial and all of that jazz. I personally love Arma3. I think it's great already & I'll have no problem watching it's maturing process. IMO though, BIS should have waited to release the game. It needs more DeV time. It wouldn't have bothered me one bit if they'd waited until late 2014 - early 2015. We'd all still be able to enjoy the "beta".

    i want the beta back

For alot of people the performance got way better. There are plenty of dedicated servers. Also, BI has never provided us with any official servers... ever. The campaign is coming in phases. There is still a lot of work to be done, you will just have to be patient. Maybe play another game until the next major patch.

    ARMA 3 Addon Request Thread

This is an mod/addon request thread. Porting the content over would be time consuming. The complexity would be trivial though, for someone who is into porting mods.
  22. Cool. I must have gotten the fps boost in one of the other parameters then. In any case, I wasn't spreading misinformation. I was merely making a suggestion that may or may not have worked. Infact I said "here's some things you could try". It's not like i said here's what works. Do this. It's w/e. The limit -maxmem parameter is 2047.
  23. Yeah there's intro music as you're approaching the beach. If you don't have music turned on maybe there's no sound at all for you until the landing. I personally really enjoyed the SP missions. They're a bit hard though. Easy to get frustrated and quit, claiming you're disappointed.
  24. Well if you know different or don't want to experiment with those parameters then don't. It was from an random Arma3 performance guide I found so it's to be taken with a grain of salt. I noticed a significant improvement in fps or I wouldn't have posted it. On the next page of dazhbog's link there's also this. So i do think some of what i posted is valid.

    Reality Check

Wonky things happened during crucial development time. The team essentially got smaller, as resources were being put towards other projects. Also that other mis-happening... which I don't care to bring up atm =P
