ArmA 2 OA only runs in Windowed mode (only cursor with desktop otherwise)

When i run arma 2 oa or arma 2, the boxes appear as usual then once they are all ticked off etc the screen flashes black and then it returns me to my desktop screen (or what ever was on my screen previously such as google chrome) but it gives my the arma 2 cursor and i have to tab out to access my screen. I have tried multiple fixes however i have seen no one report this exact issue... Screenshots do not work as they do not display the issue... PLEASE HELP!!! (I bought both games off of steam if that makes any difference)
