POLPOX's Calm Animations 3
gopr0ne replied to POLPOX's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Well, I put down a Fire Team and then ungrouped them. Oh wait! Ahh.......I see! Yes I did find a stray script line that I put in the wrong INIT box of one of the players and never took it out. Seems to have fixed it. Thanks a bunch!! This will sure give my mission so much more immersion. -
POLPOX's Calm Animations 3
gopr0ne replied to POLPOX's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
POLPOX - Great script. Thank you for your efforts! I hope to put it to good use in a mission I've been working on. I'm not very sharp when it comes to scripts (reading or writing), which means a lot of baby steps for me, so sorry in advance if anything I say here seems overly noobish. Anyway, I placed the .sqf in the mission folder (as-is) and was able to get some animations working on the units OK. But, I get the following errors on launch and in the RPT when I run the test mission: 21:04:13 Warning Message: Script scripts\PLP_calmSoldier3.sqf not found 21:04:13 Error in expression <f (!isServer) exitWith {} ; _origPos = getPosASL param [0] ; _origDir = getDir > 21:04:13 Error position: <getPosASL param [0] ; _origDir = getDir > 21:04:13 Error getposasl: Type Group, expected Object 21:04:13 File C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\Arma 3 - Other Profiles\GoProne\missions\Maldon_Polpox.Malden\PLP_calmSoldier3.sqf, line 87 What is this telling me and what am I doing wrong? Any advice from anyone that can help me get this cleaned up would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! -
Huge FPS drops due to sounderrors 64bit
gopr0ne replied to scrable's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Strange. I am running stable branch with 64-bit setting and using Logitech 633 USB Headset and have not run into this issue, However, just to confirm "onetwo's" statement above, the only option in the W7 settings for these "Speakers" is 7.1. -

TPW SETTINGS graphical user interface to edit TPW MODS' .hpp
gopr0ne replied to gliptal's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
So, deleted all previous TPW and TPW Settings files, downloaded and installed latest versions of both. Still can't get the TPW Settings.jar file to execute. I used to use TPW along with the TPW Settings GUI some time ago without a problem. Hadn't used TPW for awhile and wanted to use it again, Just can't get the GUI to launch. The .jar file is placed in my userconfig>TPW file along with the TPW.hpp. Any ideas? -

Hello gliptal. Thanks for your work on this wonderful tool. I'm having a problem getting TPW SETTINGS.jar to execute. Nothing happens when I try to run it. I verified I am running the latest Java version as well as fresh downloads of both TPW and TPW SETTINGS. Can't figure out the problem? I used this in the past and it worked fine. The TPW userconfig error log reports as follows: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: setSelectedIndex: 5 out of bounds at javax.swing.JComboBox.setSelectedIndex(Unknown Source) at gui.components.ComboBoxParameter.setValue(ComboBoxParameter.java:36) at mods.factories.ModFactory.setValueToParameter(ModFactory.java:33) at fileio.FileParser.readSection(FileParser.java:146) at fileio.FileParser.readFile(FileParser.java:65) at exec.Main.loadValuesFromConfig(Main.java:140) at exec.Main.loadValues(Main.java:57) at exec.Main.<init>(Main.java:25) at exec.Main.main(Main.java:32) I don't speak java, so I'm not sure where to go with this info. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -
[OPEN BETA] [SP] bCombat infantry AI Mod

LSD_Timewarp82 - Have you tried ww_AIMenu http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?162942-WW-AIMenu-%28complimentary-commands%29 This is a simple menu of AI commands that has a "Clear Building" and I think a "Garrison Building" command as well. Simple to use. I've used it with bCombat and haven't noticed any issues. -

Dr@gon ~ http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=22380 has a great "fire on my lead" command that has worked really well for me. My squad just won't fire until I open up first. A few other useful features in it that I use as well. It's a small mod that just gives you better command control and I don't think there are any compatibility issues with bCombat. I've only recently started using bCombat and am replaying campaign right now running both mods. So far, so good. I think bCombat is the best AI enhancement I have ever run across for Arma. In the short time I've played with it, immersion is much better with some great firefights!! Anyway, hope that helps your issue. ---------- Post added at 21:11 ---------- Previous post was at 20:38 ---------- Fabrizio_T, I just want to take a minute to thank you for this fantastic mod. Although I've only played a few missions in the SP campaign with it so far, I can tell this is what I've been looking for and I am so thankful I found bCombat. I have always been somewhat fanatical about the whole immersion thing since Arma 2 and always toying with mods that help bring the game to life in a more realistic fashion. One of the things that always drove me crazy in Arma is the unrealistic feel of firefights. Either open area or CQC, it's always felt "unnatural", over too quick and/or my squad is wiped out in the first minute because of idiotic behavior. I think bCombat has really provided the best experience I have found to date. You mentioned in a previous post that you were looking into something to address how AI stand around in formation, or something to that effect. That's another thing that gets under my skin and really breaks the immersion, so I look forward to that and whatever else your diabolical mind comes up with next!! And likewise Gliptal - thank you for the awesome control menu for bCombat and with your help in getting it up and running correctly for me. Again, another much appreciated work. I'll be grabbing the same for TPW's mod as well. I hadn't realized that was available until I found this thread. My appreciation for gentlemen like you (and the whole Arma community in general) is beyond words. -

That wasn't it, but thanks for the effort. Gliptal solved it below...... ---------- Post added at 19:39 ---------- Previous post was at 19:34 ---------- [/i]EDIT: Ok , sorry this is my fault (GoPr0ne this solution is for you too). fabrizio_t still hasn't updated the config.sqf with the chars needed for my parsing to work: follow the instructions in this post and you will be set. Those who downloaded the GUI right away probably saw it and modified it correctly, and those who came after missed it and did nothing. Sorry for the issue, I hope fabrizio_t will update his config.sqf soon. ---------- Post added at 19:43 ---------- Previous post was at 19:39 ---------- That was it. Thanks!!! I saw the info about this procedure before, but had gathered from the thread that that was already implemented in the config file that came with bCombat. Guess I never thought about going back and actually verifying that. My bad. I haven't had time to play with it yet, but making the changes to config.sqf does allow it to open, so !!Yay!!! Thanks gain Gliptal!!! -

No. Nothing happens at all. I've tried executing the file itself as well as the shortcut. I'm not a Java expert. But does having the latest Java 7 installed mean that Java VM is installed as well? Maybe that's the problem.....? ---------- Post added at 22:42 ---------- Previous post was at 22:41 ---------- No option to run the file as administrator in the context menu. -

Gliptal ~ One quick question and my apologies if it's a dumb one. I notice in your executable file there is a config.sqf as well. Am I supposed to merge that file with the one already in the bCombat addon folder? I just moved the .jar file in there and created a desktop shortcut to it, which doesn't work. The java test page indicates java is installed on my pc. Thanks for your efforts! -
Will-my-pc-run-Arma3? What cpu/gpu to get? What settings? What system specifications?
gopr0ne replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
>>>>>>>>>Reposting in correct forum<<<<<<<<<<< Hello fellow Arma enthusiasts! I hope I'm posting in the right forum. I didn't see an obvious area to address hardware questions, so my apologies if I missed it, but I'm hoping to get some insight from people more versed in this than me. I've been playing Arma3 Digital Deluxe on my older system (Core i7 875k, msi R7850 Twin Frozr IV) using a single Acer H233H monitor. I've been able to get decent frame rates (30-60 max) with this set up with most of the settings that impact FPS at high or better if I keep the view distance in check (maybe 2300 or so max). So now, I've ordered a new rig and I'm trying to select an LCD display that will match well with the new system and Arma3. It seems there's been a lot of advancement in the display arena since I last upgraded my that component. Where response time was really the only big concern before, now it seems, in addition to response time, that input lag, panel type (IPS, TFT, TN, etc....) and refresh rate are just as much, if not more important. I've been reading through threads in different forums trying to get a grip on it all and it's apparent that there really is no magic bullet here. I know buying a monitor is really a crap shoot anyway and this is not meant to be a "which monitor is best" post, but more just looking for some insight from Arma gamers that have more experience and a better grasp on this than me. I don't have my new system yet, so I really don't know how much of a boost in frame rate I can legitimately expect from the new hardware, which makes it difficult to be sure I'm not overbuying on the new monitor (not that that will happen I suppose with only a $200-$300 budget), but also what type of panel would be best suited and whether or not going with a 122Hz or 144Hz model would make any sense. Some reviews of the 122Hz and 144Hz models (Asus/BenQ) that I've read say that if your hardware isn't pushing 120 or 144 FPS, then the higher refresh rates are useless, which makes sense, but others say that it's a world of difference from 60hz no matter what. Then there's the panel type. The higher refresh rate TN panels are supposedly unmatched for gaming, but are pretty bad for general use like reading, web browsing and photo rendering with horrible color reproduction and text that is almost unreadable according to some. It seems lots of people returned these models because they couldn't deal with those issues. Then there's the IPS complaints of backlight edge bleeding to the point on some models that it overwhelms dark scenes and makes gaming almost impossible with dark scenes. As I use my one and only computer for more than just gaming, I'm finding it difficult to find the right balance between awesome gaming graphics and everyday use. I really hate to sacrifice either. So, any input on what display you use, how you use it and what you like and don't like about it would be much appreciated. Here are the specs on the new rig. Going with single GPU for now, but expect to add 2nd vid card for SLI down the road. That said, any idea what kind of FPS I can reasonable expect with Arma3 from this set up? :cc: Corsair Obsidian 550D Intel Core i7 4770K 3.50 GHz (Expect to overclock to 4.0GHz - 4.4GHz) ASUS Sabertooth Z87 16GB DDR3 1866MHz Corsair Dominator Platinum DHX 750W EVGA SuperNOVA Gold Rated 1x 128GB Samsung 840 Pro Series 1x 256GB Samsung 840 Pro Series 1x 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black Edition 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 2GB Corsair H100i 240mm Radiator w/2x Corsair SP120mm High Performance Fans 2x Corsair SP120mm High Performance Case Fans (Front Intake) 2x Corsair AF120mm High Performance Case Fans (Bottom Intake & Rear Exhaust) Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit Thanks for reading my long winded post. New rig on the way....anticipated frame rates and display questions?
gopr0ne replied to gopr0ne's topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Wow Rocksy! That's kind of disappointing to hear. I'm probably getting 35ish fps on infantry showcase, maybe 60 max flying helos. I was really hoping to see a significant boost from that. Maybe I should cancel my order....lol????
