  1. lol same here, i have a 2000$ worth studio headphone system and the dude is saying his 30$ speakers are rambling oh my god that's a LOL, i don't even understand why people start defending it, like i was talking about their religion and stuff, and they get super ultra butthurt offended mega pwnd, like i said their god was stupid or didnt even exist muahah, and i don't wanna post on the feedback tracker, it's not a fatal issue, i'm sure some devs read this forum

2000 $ "studio" headphones? im a music producer and i can assure you that those 2000 $ are totally wasted, you would NEVER EVER hear the sounds in a realistic way through headphones, nobody uses headphones to master lol... my god what the hell does marketing these days...

good lord. Audiophile systems (and i am sorry to say but the essence st-x) doesnt really fit in that bucket. Besides a true audiophile system is NOT really meant for games, but for music. If you believe heavily compressed sounds in a game will sound the same as a vinyl, or evern a 320bit mp3, 256bit aac or anything in between, you are pretty ignorant.

    +1

however, the sounds as i said before, are PERFECTLY leveled, there is a good overall equalizing and the sample rate is pretty high, i hear no compression at all, and that's good, as i said before the only thing that "lacks" is a "live" mid/side reverb, and a delay effect for echoes in valleys, but i feel already happy as how sound is treated right now, again it might be personal taste, but with my MONITORS (there is a huge difference from monitors to simple over eqed speakers) i can hear the sound how the devs intended to. and remember that the sound that i hear in my room could be totally different from the sound you hear in yours, every audio engineer should know that his song (or sample, movie or wathever) can be heard on good, bad and crappy systems, the trick is to try them all and try to find the perfect "middle". just give some time to the audio engineers at bistudio, they are doing an awesome job right now ;)

edit: to clarify, i did not intend that your headphones should not be used in gaming / simple listening, just don't call them "studio" headphones, because nobody should not be using headphones for eq/mix/master purposes

edit 2: ok i did not read THIS:

lol ppl here are like "what i say is the truth" ffs, half of the forum here are the same cod bf kids, look at what you arguing about, shame and facepalm, the headphones im using are like magnifying lenses, and i feel sorry for you've never heard a good headphone system, and btw try some dynaudio bm15a, THAT'S a real monitor :D, but ofc a man who works with sound will tell you that a brand or size is not the key here, actually i cant stop you from loving those shitty sounds in the game :D

this is the cherry on the cake...LOL i will stop the discussion right here, i don't want to start a flame in here, if you are really interested in sound enginering, please feel free to pm me

  2. Yesterday's live stream was running on my work machine and the specs are:

    - i7

    - 8gb

    - GTX660

And Arma 3 runs very well on it, with great visual quality.

Beware that the streaming video doesn't make justice at all, the video has much less quality.

my exact same machine! i tought it was mid-ware.. :D great streaming, it was fun!

  3. Didn't we already had the discussion about possible Steam features integrated in ArmA 3 a few months ago?

I think it ended with a Developer saying that they are considering it and that everything is still Work In Progress.

They game is still in Alpha stage, more Steam related features might be added trough the course of development. Just wait and see.....

that's why we open threads/tickets about issues maybe?

  4. "Are you new to the series? *

A2 for DayZ only doesn't count"

why not? i bought a2 and a3 just for the mod support, and even if you "veterans" dont like dayz, it's still based on arma 2 and everybody knows that there will be a standalone game for playing dayz, so i dont' understand how dis could affect a3 sales?

    however, filled the poll :P

  5. Ever tried opening a car door with a hand full of RPG before?

Nah, neither have I BTW. :P

when i was a transporter, with sofas and fridges i coul--HAD-- to open doors myself, but just for the moneyzz...imagine there is a guy shooting at you and the only option to survive is to enter that vehicle, personally i would put that rpg over my shoulder and opened the door with my left hand...

edit: notice that english is not my first language

  6. i ask you once again - why should i? can you tell me? i'm not gonna prove anything to ppl on the webz i don't even know, you may think whatever you want, haters gonna hate, i also don't know why are you so butthurt? are you a BIS sound engineer who's oversensitive to criticism? ok, i'm done with you all :) even you guys can do better, just grab some good samples, layer them, EQ, compress and that's all, BIS currently haven't done crap about it, just an overdone muddy reverb tail - that's a fact, not just my vivid imagination, i didn't say it was bad and bis should burn in flames, i said it needed more work and i hope they make it alright in the end, as i know they can

you can eq and compress all the samples you want, but until some rtrue stereo reverb processing in game will be added, it will be a simple, static, sample.

  7. The first citation was on your forums and can be found here from 2009 following Svartalf, one of the Developers at LGP that had contacted BI about the possibility of doing a port of ArmA... There was a thread that seems MIA where someone from Phoronix and Svartalf both posted indicating they'd received no reply from BI, with BI Fans speculating that it was because BI would be taking a risk sharing code and assets with an third-party...

It has also been indicated in many leaked Microsoft emails, and by second party reports from Developers that used to work on DirectX -- that DirectX it is no longer under active development... Of course there are stories like this one but if you've been a Parter with, or followed this company for more then a decade you know by now it's good to hedge your bets on Microsoft's mixed, vague, boiler-plate PR messages as very few leaks there are accidental...

xbox 360 lasted almost 7 years, and the new xbox one mounts a dx 11.1 card, do the math

  8. I really belive that the BIS sound engineer computer has some unusual settings making him hear different, because us, the rest of the world, still hear gunshots TOO LOUD and the footsteps and reload almost UNHEARABLE.... Waiting for 3 weeks for this update and the sounds are still bad. I'd say rather unexisting. Since there are internal bugs it cannot be modded either.

i think they are perfect for now, nice levels and very clean recordings. i love the fact that there are no super compressed sounds or megaa-bass-boost allover the place like battlefield, that game made my studio monitors clip

  9. you'll learn that the Windows Aero compositer uses OpenGL and (shockingly) can confer as much as a 50% performance hit to OpenGL games and applications unless it's disabled ...

    :j:

    aha!

so that's why american mgee's alice runs like crap on my new pc! thanks pal! i will try to disable aero!

    im not sarcastic eh

  10. i too get this not from the last update but for a while now. it's really bad. my FPS in general is really good but the whole game seems to throttle itself every few seconds in a constant interval. i tested several settings for my CPU including disabling "cool'n'quiet" and stuff and tested other games.

it is just arma 3 and it is only in multiplayer. i'm not sure about this but it also seems to be related to the number of players on the server. and no it's not low FPS or arma 2 type server lag. something is throttling everything in an even interval. that's why i first thought that it was the mission type and some kind of unoptimized script loop but not many people seem to suffer from it.

i asked some and i also never hear complains while for me it has become unplayable. not because it's stuttering so hard but constantly no matter how complex the scene is.

it feels a bit like the memory leak planetside 2 was suffering from. like stuff stacking up to a point where it freezes for a split second then goes back to normal only to do the same again after a short time.

i have this exact same problem mate! really dont know where to look :( is a ticket open?
