I'm really anticipating this very promising, very beautiful terrain. The way you've got the downtown with the old european house blocks and the new skyscrapers, and then all the properties on the outskirts. And don't get me started on the environment. The waterways, the snow-capped mountains, the spruce trees. Oh, and I'd best not forget that incredible airport and airbase. I'm absolutely in love.
Thank you. I'm starting to get excited about the progress myself.
Daily update pics:
Airfield and mil area now added to satellite textures. Now visible from space. The same will happen with the remaining buildings as soon as they all have positions finalised.
Main island now has about 90% of the buildings placed.
Some camp we discovered in the mountains. We were lightly equipped and didn't risk entering. Will probably come back later, with better equipment to see if we can find a way inside.

Almost done with building placement on main island and town named Gamle-Erik.
Road and street layout on the island is also nearly completed.
Changed surfaces around airport and normalised island sat map colours to the rest of the map.

I am done with the runway textures for now. I will detail the airfield more as soon as i get custom objects for it going. It is at least playable.

Almost done with the runway and taxiways now. Just some detail tweaking and a few minor textures left!

Using a colder colour filter (LUT) for realshade would make the map have a "chilly" effect, it looks cold and Scandinavian now, real shade just brings that out a bit more.
If anybody makes that for the map, that's cool. I probably won't be including something like that though myself... probably.

Hey, if you do a military airfield please consider actually doing an area that can be used for a proper flightline - something like this. All it would need to be is a patch of concrete off of the taxiway. It's a real pain in Arma to stick more than like three jets and helicopters on an airfield because they usually consist of a runway, taxiway, and 3 hangars... D:
And I'll definitely watch your stream when you get it going again. Good luck!

I haven't decided on a mil airfield yet. Hard to find room for one. This one is a domestic airport for commuters. It has a small enclosed area that will fit a small wing of interceptors or helicopters. Maybe c130. It is where the hospital is in in one of the latest pics. I just don't have a suitable hangar yet. That whole area is intended for mil use and there are some barracks and stuff already placed in the area. Room for logistics shouldn't be a problem :)
I just haven't connected those areas yet because the mil section will be reinforced concrete slabs and not same materials as the general aviation tarmac.
Size of the airfield itself is made for 737 and large prop commuters but there is enough room for ai to use the largest planes on the ils.
This general area will have mil hangars and admin buildings etc. I just haven't decided on assets for it yet.
Access to the runway needs to be sorted out too.
Don't expect room for anything bigger than a flight of c130 or ospreys though.
If i make a mil airfield, it will be in the wilderness with very few facilities. No ils, runmway lights, markings, etc.

Those are some really nice road textures. Love how black they are.
Thanks. They will be slightly brighter soon though. A middle of how it is now and the road next to it.

I keep forgetting, and recently i've done a lot of stuff that doesn't translate well to streaming. switching between lots of software and working on 3 monitors.
As soon as i am done with ground textures and go back to pure TB/BD work i'm doing long streams again!

Yes. these bridges for now. Custom bridges later.

my only question is if im not mistaken you can set the grass draw distance, is there any chance you can make it further than altis or stratis, maybe something like CUP terrains' Nagova map, perhaps even a bit longer so the grass doesnt just cut off abruptly
It is set to 100m and it cuts off on a gradient up to that distance. Any more than this and there won't be any fps to be had.

This map has a nice feel to it, If it's half as good as the previous one where you hit the snag, it will be another " must have"
Thanks man. I'm only doing things I know worked on the previous one. Plus with the aid of some extremely helpful guy called TeTeT, who had the patience to walk me thru it, i've got porting going too.. so no mod requirements!
90% done with the basics. after that is just detailing left. Which should take months..
But this time there is no learning or experimentation involved. Just painting objects and textures so i have a very good picture of what it involves.

Thanks. I have been trying to put together a video but every time i start working on it, that is less time i spend on the map. And each time i have got somewhere with the video, it is already outdated by map progress in the mean time..
