New STEAM patch update 25th March 2013

But, I thought the minimum speed of CPU should be atleast 2.5ghz. Your running 2.2ghz. Is lag not expected from that? I would expect it if I was running that CPU anyway. I'm running a AMD Phenom II X4 975 Black 3.6Ghz, 4gb of ram and a HD6850. ( $500 budget gaming pc ). And I run 30-40 FPS on High ( good enough settings for me ). And with time, that will only improve :). But, I would suggest aiming for the minimum specs before you complain that your pc cant run it(?).... EDIT: And correct me if im wrong... but, doesnt every game have problems with i7's? Anyway, with the reviews, its why I didnt purchase one. I was told to go with an i5 for gaming if I was set on intel. But, I went with the cheap AMD :)

    Digital Maps?

Its not your confusion of them being "maps". It's your lack of ability to put the word "maps" with the sentence and contexts in witch it was put.

    Chopper default control scheme

The "flying" is easier to me than most games. I did not try to land often though. However, engaging enemies is clicking pretty good for me. I'll have to do a few combat drop simulations to see how the controls handle that. I am not spending much time learning the choppers though. My understanding is that I will just have to re-learn it all once they include the full flight model. I am also more of a scout/shooter than someone that transports.

    Chopper default control scheme

!? I only tried flying once... I was doing barrel rolls and crap. I thought it was extra super easy compared to other games. I better fly some more to see if this wasnt just a fluke. But, im pretty sure it was cake.

    ArmA2 ACE = CoD ???

So people still believe you cant accurately fire while on the move? Anyone seen the police shootout video from 1998? ( Vietnam Vet vs Cop ). The vet shows a perfect example of advancing and firing at the same time. In fact, that alone decided who was gonna live that battle. And please note, if anyone googles that video... you have been warned. The sounds of it still stick in my head. Bottom line is.. most people that dont handle weapons cant accurately do it.. the ones that are trained to ( IE Soldiers like we play as in ArmaIII ), can.

Will we finally see craters after an explosion?

Dude! STOP pulling up threads from 2011... Wtf is wrong with you, Minicus!?

Why not add killstreaks to the game?

You guys are seriously going to feed the troll!?
  8. Oh ok good, from what I read people would rather see ArmaII controls. Ive noted several people speak of it. I dont mind if it gets slowed down, I always play FPS' in the bottom 35% sensitivity. I believe the biggest problem with sensitivity and rotations might come with a tanks turret. I was a die hard BF3 tanker on the 360. I would crank my sensitivity up ( and hope I would never have to engage with my rifle ) and steam roll people. Figured i'd give the PC version a try ( larger battles ). I was AMAZED at the fact that I could change vehicle and infantry sensitivity separately. To get to the point of it, on the PC version, I was able to whip the tanks turret around so fast it literally wouldnt take a second to do a WHOLE 360 degree rotation. I stopped playing the PC version shortly after that. It just felt cheesy on the PC. That reminds me, I should updated BF3 on my 360 sometime to try the last expansion. EDIT: What exactly constitutes an "instant 180 accurate shot"? Repeatedly able to consistently spin and head shot at 50 yards, 300 yards? Is "any" hit considered "accurate"? I don't seem to have been shot by these guys, yet. In fact, I've noticed that I seem to have a major advantage over other people now that the controls have been modernized. Nothing like playing a Marksman in this game ;) SOOOO FUN!
  9. So I just watched the video... Nothing seems off to me.. Other than the noob that snuck up behind him tried to "execute" him. But... Failed.. Miserably. People questioning this(?). Then just get your pistol out ( i'd assume you have one since you know what would be 'real' ) Set up a human sized target. Stand 3 feet in front of it. Spin around to your left side and continue side stepping to your right once facing him. All while unloading your clip on target ( Please note, the enemy that was shot in the video did not move, so the stationary target is just fine for this test ). Now, you may not shoot with this kind of accuracy in real life. But trust me, people can do it. People want to "cripple" ArmaIII's controls back to that of ArmaII!? The way the soldiers handled there weapons in ArmaII was the furthest thing from realistic. They realized this, and gave us smooth, fluid controls. And you want them to revert!? EDIT To avoid double post: There is a lot more to do out there for " grown ass men " than a video game.

How can i use the Bipod ?

So, because ArmaIII is a sim, and BF3 is an Arcade Action Shooter. We CANNOT have a functioning bipod option... You fanboys are straight whacked out of your minds! No wonder DayZ had to save BI.
  11. When I see a game use Gamespy I think " Developers are trying to cut corners and save money ". Nothing more, nothing less. EDIT: Please note, Gamespy is 'acceptable' for this Alpha release. It however will NOT be 'acceptable' for a full release of Arma3. When a developer uses Gamespy for there multiplayer, it means that they dont care enough about there player base. Using Gamespy turns a first world game developer into a third world game developer. Lack of professionalism. Though again, its acceptable... for now.
  12. A Bug? No. Its working as intended. If the difficulty is turned up, it replaces the exact location marker with the circle. You can be anywhere within that circle. I've never hosted a server before, so I am UNSURE if you can turn it completely off. Though, in the full release, im sure we will have the option.

    Spotting an enemy?

Occasionally if you wheel scroll the target you will get there name pop up and faction colors. Though, I do believe it works like the range finder. Only on certain difficultys. Other than that, identify your target. Can't tell? Dont shoot... sneak up closer and see if you can manage to identify them.

    64-bit executable

I would attribute that to XP being the best OS Microsoft has ever been able to produce. And the next release, Vista.. being the most god aweful worst OS there has EVER been. Anybody that is "gaming" does not use XP anymore. Most games won't even run on XP. This one included. So, Metal69's comment seems to be more accurate. People running XP are not running a "gaming" machine. ArmaIII, I dont believe was ever designed to run on "The Standard Home Computer". The more I think about it, the more Metal69 appears to be right. Though, we can only speculate what "most" people have. Though, I bet if we started a poll on this forum to see who runs a 32-bit OS or a 64-bit OS... the 64-bit will have the most users.

    ARMA III & Steam WORKSHOP

But, I believe your misunderstanding the USE of the license. The license is there to PROTECT them from the very thing your arguing. That people will be posting stuff that they never made. So upon doing so, you MUST agree that they can now do whatever they wish with that data. Whether it means its stolen and they remove it, or whatever the case my be. If such a license was not in place I believe they would always have legal issues about this. However, they likely have no legal issues due to this... for the very REASON of that license agreement. I just believe it to be more of an Anti-Steam sentiment than a license agreement. Have you not read some of the agreements out there for software!? Yet, you likely still use them. BUT, dont get me wrong. I hated Steam at one time too. Until I gave it a chance, now there is no other one stop shop for your internet gaming needs. FYI, steam DOES remove copyright material. If you 'own' it, you can get it removed. Has happened to several Total War mods ive used before. Eitherway, a workshop will ONLY expand our modding potential/community. Armaholic traffic will surely suffer for this, of course. But, obviously they still have there fanboys that will likely avoid the one click mod install button and opt for surfing the web. More power to them. But 'WHEN' we get a Workshop for Arma, it will be AWESOME :)
