    ARMA 3 Addon Request Thread

    Accurate United States Marine Corps Force Reconnaissance units It seems like the flexibility offered with Arma 3 will allow modders to make some pretty damn good unit replacement mods, and I would really like to see a good Force Recon replacement made. As much as I wish I could do this myself (The extent of my modding capabilities extends only to about 4 years of Source SDK level design experience, nothing with 3Ds Max), I can still offer help in the form of a definitive kit list and tons of reference photos if needed. Just to name the basics: -Headgear- MICH 2000 Norotos 3 Hole Shroud OR Norotos Universal Shroud Surefire Helmet Light MS2000 strobe Norotos TATM arm OR Norotos AKA2 arm (Rhino is no longer issued) Helmet's are either painted OR worn with the FSBE II Reversible Cover PVS-14's with Wilcox J-Arm OR Norotos Dual Dovetail Adaptor MSA Sordins OR Bowman Swimmers Headset (Part of the FSBE Maritime Shooter Kit) Ops Core straps (Either H or X nape) are fairly common -Second Line- Allied Industries FSBE II MBSS w/ FSBE II PACA (The khaki / sand colored ones work as well) Eagle Industries FSBE II Land CIRAS Eagle Industries FSBE II RRV w/ FSBE II PACA (Not as common) BAE RBAV-SF in coyote brown (Not as common) Eagle and Allied Industries FSBE II Pouches -First Line- Eagle Industries FSBE II Warbelt w/ suspenders Eagle Industries FSBE II E&R Bag (More commonly referred to as the "fanny pack" or "nut ruck"), these sometimes serve as the IFAK in a unit's SOP Allied Industries FSBE II Leg Panel CSM Gear Dump Pouch TFSS, if on a VBSS type mission SEA MKII HABD w/ FSBE II SEA MKII pouch, if on a VBSS type mission -Firearms- M4A1 w/ 14.5" barrel, KAC 7" RIS EOTech 553 in FDE ACOG TA11E or TA11F Insight PEQ-16A in FDE Insight PEQ-15 in FDE Surefire M951, 961, 900 Insight SU-233 (M3X) in FDE KAC Vert Grip I can provide as many detailed reference photos of some of these items if needed, since I collect Force Recon gear. I have some pictures of my stuff here: https://www.facebook.com/ThatGuyWithTheMarineImpression Keep in mind, Force Recon and Recon Battalion are two separate units. Hope this helps, and it'd be awesome if this got made.

    SOC WIP Thread

    The APC's aren't even being considered, Crye shit has popped up recently in some pictures where they were testing (Mostly JPCs I believe, maybe a CPC here and there), but for the most part the SFLCS MBAV remains the carrier of choice.

    MK18 Mod 1

    Mod 1's do (Mod 1 is the Navy's designation for the platform, other branches refer to it as a Block II CQBR) The one with 12" RIS is the regular Block II M4. Daniel Defense makes the RIS II in both the 10.5" flavor (For the Mod 1/ CQBR) and the 12" version for regular 14.5" barrel M4's that are in the Block II program.
  5. I'm trying to use RUIS to spawn groups of guerrillas and it doesn't seem to work. Here's the section from my RUIS.sqf I've used to define the guerrila faction: // A2 GUE faction if (_faction == "GUE") then { _unit setVariable ["infantry", ["GUE_InfSquad","GUE_InfSquad_Assault","GUE_InfSquad_Weapons","GUE_InfTeam_1","GUE_InfTeam_2","GUE_InfTeam_AT","GUE_GrpInf_TeamAA", "GUE_GrpInf_TeamSniper","GUE_MilitiaSquad"], true]; _unit setVariable ["vehicle", ["GUE_MotInfSection","GUE_MotInfSquad"], true]; _unit setVariable ["lightarmor", ["GUE_MechInfSection","GUE_MechInfSquad"], true]; _unit setVariable ["armor", ["GUE_TankSection"], true]; _unit setVariable ["air", [], true]; };

    Force Recon

    Models look good, other than a few inaccuracies: 1. If that's a model of an Eagle SPC, that would make these guys Recon Battalion, not Force. Force generally use the MBSS + PACA, CIRAS, and modern Force guys have been with the RBAV-SF. 2. MSOC are the only ones who use Peltor Comtac II's (They're using III's now-a-days), Force primarily use MSA Sordins. The Bowman style swimmer headset is sometimes seen (It's included in the FSBE Maritime Shooter kit as the RC101010-AP Low Noise Headset, NSN 5965-01-517-4269). 3. Hard to tell what unit that is from the screenshots, but the primary PTT units in use are the TEA Maritime PTT (Included with the FSBE Maritime Shooter Kits) . 4. Force would KILL to use PVS-15's :p. MSOC are the lucky ones who get 15's, Force and Recon Battalion are still using PVS-14's. Also hard to tell from the screens, but the arm has to be a variant of the Norotos TATM (Long or Short, Long is primarily used with 14's, short is used with 15's or 14's using a Wilcox J-Arm or Norotos Dual Dovetail Adaptor). 5. Some of the pouches should be re-worked to better represent the current FSBE II issue pouches. In screenshot 2 the dude in the background appears to be using a Tactical Tailor shingle. Depending on the unit the SOP and the Officers will be more strict or lenient about privately purchased gear. Most guys aren't total gearwhores and don't really know alternatives to what they're issued exist. 6. Some units have chosen to do away with belt or second-line mounted IFAKs and instead use the FSBE II E&R bag (or fanny pack) as an IFAK. Depending on what unit you're choosing to replicate it may be something to consider, although I can understand considering the engine's limitations that this option isn't really desirable. 7. The strobe placement on the first guy's helmet is absolutely useless, it's pointing forward which will wash out his NODs if it's turned on, plus nobody on the ground would really be able to see it. The strobes are generally place on the rear of the helmet in a vertical fashion where it can be best seen by teammates and aircraft, plus if Force were to somehow be issued heavy PVS-15's it could act as a slight counter-weight to save the wearer's neck ;) I just wanted to point out some things that I, someone who collects and studies Force and MSOC kit, have noticed right off the bat, and to help you get more realistic and accurate models for the future. :) If you need more reference, you can check my Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/ThatGuyWithTheMarineImpression And I have an ungodly amount of reference pictures should you need / want them. -Pete
